Do I still need Broadband Boost?

I have SKy Broadband Boost on an offer at the moment. I also have a Sky Booster. I had a Sky Booster six years ago when I got Sky Q. Last year I changed to Stream.  A few weeks back the connection light stopped working on the booster so had some problems with the Whole Home puck.

I phoned Sky and they sent out a new Booster for free with a £10 delivery charge. But this did not work either so they sent an engineer who resoleved the problem and boosted the signal. But he asked me if I had Boost and advised I no longer need it.

However a Sky Advisor said if I cancel Boost engineer visits would be £65 and the booster may need to returned as it is part of the Boost package.

So not sure who is right here. Now that Boost is going up by £1.50 I would cancel if the engineer is correct.

Boosters were supplied 'free' if required for Q television.  There's no similar provision with Stream, so the only way to legitimately have a booster on loan from Sky as a Sky Broadband subscriber is to pay for Boost (or Max).

The Boost add-on isn't required to qualify for a broadband 'engineer' callout though.

Re: Do I still need Broadband Boost?

So what if I wanted to change broadband provider? Would I would have to give the booster back?

That is correct, yes.  Sky does not loan its own-brand booster hardware for Glass or Stream.
