Difficulty connecting my NETGEAR EX3800 Access Point in my Garden room to Sky WiFi Max Hub.

Hi All,

I have Sky WiFi Max Hub 150MB (White one) at front of my house and then i run an CAT 6 armoured cable to my garden room, and connect this to a 8 port switch, which is then used to connect a varianty of devices, like a Ps5 and work laptop. However one of the ports then connects to my NetGear Ex3800 which has been switched to an Access Point to then project WiFi in teh garden floor and back of the house.

Previous suppliers (BT / Vodafone) this has been allowed no issues, and unfortuately with SKY when plugged in, it kills every devices that is connected to the network with a few mins, even when the Sky App status good service for the access point. Soon as its unplugged all service resumed.

After advice how to get Wifi to my garden room, and if there are any restrictions with the Sky Max Hub at all.

Many Thanks in Advance

@Hughesfam4 are you 100% certain the Netgear is properly in Acess Point mode as if it is running a DHCP server thst could explain things?. My own Wifi Max hub plays nicely with my own TP-Link Deco set up in AP mode so there isnt some oddity with the pronciple of your set up. Is the switch a simple unmanaged type as managed switches can cause issues?

Hi Chrisee.

I have just reset the extender and can't complete the setup for access point.  I log into the extender and start the setup. At the point it states plug it into the router via Ethernet cable, it begins setup mode for access point, but after 60 seconds its as if the router goes into lock down. At this point the extender loses all connection and reverts to unable to display page, but noticed that all devices connected to the router (Via Ethernet or Wifi) still have connection but loses the internet. This continues up to the point i unplug the extender from the router and all devices suddenly spring back into life again.

Its strange, it is as if the Sky Max Router goes into melt down after of minute of the extenders being plugged in directly. Must add the extender works as a wifi extender not issues, but not suitable for my garden room as too far away.

Any Suggestions or other ideas greatly appreciated

Thanks

I suspect that the issue is with the EC3800 and it not being in AP mode.

If you have a spare wireless router I would try that in AP mode to see if you can extend the WiFi.

@Hughesfam4 the best way to configureca device like your Netgear is to connect it directly to a laptop etc by ethernet and use that to set upthecdevice before it is connected to your home's network.
