Device blocked for internet with new Hub

My work device, Lenovo thinkpad, uses a secure vpn login with FortiClient and since upgrading to the new Hub router (white box) all my internet access is blocked. 
my work IT team suggest something to do with amending the MAP T settings, but contact with Sky informs me they can't do this. 
all other devices connect to the new router fine. My work device connect to all other WiFi and hotspots fine. Just the two are not compatible! 
it's infuriating and I cannot find a resolution - any suggestions please?!
