Damage to property suring installation

3rd April 2025 engineer from openreach drilled a hole in my property causing damage to the render on the wall (big chunk completely broke off).  An accident by the engineer.  However wanting this repaired I contacted Sky who are taking no responsibility or liability of this and passed me to Openreach.

I reached out to Openreach and they referred me to thei Claims handlers DWF Claims.  I filled in the necessary complaint form and weeks late was told this was another company entirety that Carried out the works.  A company called KN Group, and this was on behalf of BT.  Contacted BT who told me this was nothing to do with them.  Tried to contact KN Group however number rings out (3 times I've tried).

No one is helping me, no one is taking responsibility for damaging my property.

Phoned Sky to report all of this and again they pass me onto Openreach.

Feel like I'm banging my head on a wall trying to get my property fixed.

Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

@SC02

Never heard of KN Group but they will have been sub-contracted by Openreach not BT. I think your claim is still with OR.

Re: Damage to property suring installation

@SC02 Was more than likely Circet contracting to OR, and circet is all part and tied in with the KN Group, As Sky is the ISP and your company you may just have to do it all through sky.

@SC02 I would raise a formal complaint with Sky with whom you have a contract pointing out that they are legally liable for damage caused by their sub-contractor and that you have tried to to sort this with Openreach without success.

Re: Damage to property suring installation

Thank you all for your kind replies.

I also figured that KN Group were likely sub contracted by Openreach too.  As I say my surprise to be told twice by Sky that I have to go through Openreach.  Despite the fact I explained clearly to thenm that I've done this, and that the complaints number for Openreach takes you straight to DWF Claims who insist it is BT and KN Group who are liable.

Incredibly frustrating.

The amount of calls and emails to these people who are happy to take your money every month but not help resolve this issue of their contractors damaging your building, terrible customer service experience.

Again thank you all for the support and replies 🙂

@SC02 It's always difficult, Sky supply you a Broadband service over the OR infrastructure, OR are responsible for all of that, but it is a wipe hands Sky cannot do much, you cannot do anything with OR as they will not entertain you in the slightest, catch 22 for sure....

Re: Damage to property suring installation

Yeah that's what I've been experiencing.  Passed between Sky, and Openreachs claims handlers DWF... DWF who state the work was carried out by KN Group and to contact BT.  It's so frustrating it's laughable lol. I'm sure I'll get there in the end, but shouldn't need to go through this.  These places should be bending over backwards to help me! Just my opinion.

Again. Appreciate the convo 🙂
