DEAL OR NO DEAL..

found it strange that now city fibre has been installed in our street, sky are not able to match existing or new broadband companys prices, would of thought they would want to poach customers....

@stephen+barnard the altnet companies like City Fibre are under cutting companies like Sky to buy market share. Whether that is a policy that they can maintain while making a return which is acceptable to their investors is debatable. Running fibre is a very expensive business but consumersxshould take advantage of cheap prices shilecthey can. City Fibre will almost certainly survive or be bought out but some of the smaller companies wont.

Also worth noting that the largest part of the cost of Sky Broadband is going to Openreach/BT Wholesale for infrastructure rental and bandwidth provision.  Sky, like other ISPs on the Openreach network are making a sliver of profit on top of that cost, which is why they then push customers towards buying supplements like Broadband Boost.
