Create a 2.4ghz and 5ghz SSID on the Sky Broadband router
Hi
This seems to be a very asked. However, the setting on my router and sky app don't allow me to create 2 SSIDs. I'm having issues where my PCs connected to over 2.4 as the signal is signal is sliightly stronger.
- The router broadcasts both 2.4 and 5 on the same SSID
- I can disable 2.4 on the router, but this is still required.
- On the router all config is disabled, apart from the disabling 2.4 or 5ghz
- On the sky app I can only renamed the SSID
Any suggestions

@Defiance Follow the link instructions and use a web interface connection to do so AND NOT your mysky app.

Re: Create a 2.4ghz and 5ghz SSID on the Sky Broadband router
- Type 192.168.0.1 into your browser.
- Select the WiFi tab
- Enter the login details that apply to your Sky Hub
- see the image below - your username and password are case sensitive
- Scroll down and untick the ‘Synchronise 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Settings’ box
- To help identify the two WiFi bands, edit one of the SSID's to make it identifiable
- for example, SKYXXXXX5GHz
- each WiFi band has its own sub-menu where you can make the change
- If you make this change, your hub will generate two SSID's and each device will need to be reconnected to whichever changes have been made to.
- Select Apply
- your Sky Hub may take a few minutes to restart

Hi
Thank you for replying
However, I don't have the "‘Synchronise 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Settings’" tick box.

Re: Create a 2.4ghz and 5ghz SSID on the Sky Broadband router
Hi
I founds below on another thread, regarding the new white hubs:
"It's not possible to unsynchronize and rename the wireless bands on a Max Hub: the most which can be done is to temporarily disable the 5Ghz band using the Hub administration settings in the My Sky app."

@Defiance You are 100% correct, the hub you have is NOT the sky broadband hub, and you cannot split the bands!

Re: Create a 2.4ghz and 5ghz SSID on the Sky Broadband router
@Defiance you will find the inability to split eifi bands is quite common on modern routers as doing so breaks WiFi6 which requires the2 bands synchronised to achieve higher speeds. On older routers it was sometimes necessary to split bands to allow slower devices not to slow down faster devices this is far less of an issue with more powerful modern routers.
If you simply want to connect a device which wont connect to a synchronised SSID temporarily turn off the 5GHz band connect thee device then turn on the 5GHz band again and it should stay connected.
