Connect TP Link to Sky Broadband

Hi, I've today changed over to Sky broadband from Virgin but my TP Link extender in my garden room no longer works. I didn't set it up originally so I'm a bit clueless. Can someone help me please as I need to fix it for work tomorrow. I'm on 900mb sky broadband if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Re: Connect TP Link to Sky Broadband

But is the TP link router connected to the Sky router using a LAN cable. I am guessing you used that TP-Link as Wi-Fi access point.

@Tel69 Goto the TP-Link web site and find out from there what to do, you will need the model of your tp-link. Your posting is to vague without the supplied info.

Re: Connect TP Link to Sky Broadband

The TP Link model is TL-WR841N and Sky router is SR 213 o2 uk -wht. I'm not really familiar with this stuff at all sadly. I've downloaded TP Link app and can't work out how to pair the 2 devices.

Re: Connect TP Link to Sky Broadband

@Tel69 From tp-link setup guide.

Range Extender Mode
1. Configure
A. Place the router next to your host router and power it on.
B.Connect a computer to the router via an Ethernet cable or wirelessly by
using the SSID (network name) and Wireless Password printed on the
label at the bottom of the router.
C.Launch a web browser and enter https://tplinkwifi.net in the address bar.
Create a password to log in.
D. Click Next to start the Quick Setup. Select Range Extender and follow
the step-by-step instructions to set up the internet connection.
In this mode, the router boosts the existing wireless coverage in your home.
Place the router about halfway between your host router and the Wi-Fi
“dead” zone. The location you choose must be within the range of your

Re: Connect TP Link to Sky Broadband

This has turned into a bit of a disaster so my new router from sky is in the same room as the old virgin broadband router however its in the opposite corner as they had to drill holes etc. I've spoken with TP Link who say they can't help me and I'm out of ideas. The wifi works fine in my main house but there's nothing in my garden room at all, can anyone help as I simply don't know what to do?

Re: Connect TP Link to Sky Broadband

@Tel69 With the fact that you have now stated you have the SR213 Sky Max router, you will also have all off the following in the links below.

Look through the info, a number to call them will be there, if you have a landline with sky dialing 150 will also get you to them.

You can ask to have a pod to cover the extended wi-fi you need. Tp-Link you had was old from way back, and the issue is always where the router gets placed when you get the new install it is NEVER central to help move the wireless Wi-Fi about the home.

Re: Connect TP Link to Sky Broadband

I am currently using a TP-Link router on Virgin Media and waiting for switch to Sky on 29th April.

So when you used the TP- Link router with Virgin Media. Did you set the Virgin Hub into "Modem mode" and use the TP-Link as a Wi-Fi connected direct to the Virgin Hub?

Re: Connect TP Link to Sky Broadband

Our builders did it when we had our garden room built and the TP Link

fed off virgin broadband with no issues. I think the issue here is the new router has been put in a different place and had holes drilled to accommodate the install but now the TP Link. I'll read through the links provided and see what happens.
