@monkeyfunky  Have you tried to re-start your router? Power down for around 1 hour and then see if the IP changes and you are able to view Channel4 then.

Re: Channel 4 GeoBlock on Sky IP

It's either a geo location problem with the LIR record or it's an application issue. Nothing to do with the router.

@monkeyfunky  Can you get other services like BBCiplayer where is it saying your ip is when you look it up?

Re: Channel 4 GeoBlock on Sky IP

All other services working. It's a sky IP problem; if I connect the TV to my phone the channel4 app works, if I move it back to my sky broadband it does not.

@monkeyfunky Where is your IP showing when you do an IP lookup? If it is a Sky problem then can you please check where it thinks you are then try and gain a new IP.

Re: Channel 4 GeoBlock on Sky IP

I raised a ticket with Channel 4, they recommended several actions including clearing the app data and cache for the channel 4 streaming app on the FireTV settings. That has fixed the problem.

@monkeyfunky Confused does that mean it's not a sky Broadband issue now then and the fix is not for them to do!

Re: Channel 4 GeoBlock on Sky IP

I can't tell if this is a criticism or a serious question !

@monkeyfunky It's a serious question even though you posted back an excellent reply, a lot would have just left it as it was and gone!

Re: Channel 4 GeoBlock on Sky IP

Prior to posting I had found that the channel4 app worked fine if I connected the TV to my phone, but stopped when I put it back to Sky, which strongly pointed to Sky, However the app worked on another TV and channel4 streaming worked via my Mac computer both of which would use the same ipv4 external address but different but related ipv6 addresses which suggests otherwise.

Sky has 6m customers, their support team are very likely to have diagnosed this problem previously, I was hoping they may comment to the original post.

I reached out to channel 4 who sent a detailed breakdown of things to try, the FireTV app cache was the second thing on their list, which fixed the problem.

Outcome is this is a Channel4 app issue,

probably a problem with the FireTV installation. Note I found this problem

as we have recently bought a Freely streaming TV for a room without an external

antenna cable.

@monkeyfunky Again thank you and as previous there was no intended slight whatsoever, things do get hard to pin down, just too many grey areas...👍👍

That typically doesn't happen even for known or resolved issues.
