Changed to Fibre
I have recently changed to fibre broadband. It was actived last week, however because my hub had to be near the socket which is upstairs in my bedroom and was moved from my kitchen where my computer is, it is no longer connected, so I cannot access the internet on my computer. Basically I am paying for fibre broadband but unable to use it. ???
what can I do about this. ?

Re: Changed to Fibre
How were you connected before? Wired or wireless?

Re: Changed to Fibre
Wireless should still work, depending on how many walls it has to got through. Did they change the router? If so, the password and network ID, (the SSID), will have changed. You will need to go into its settings and change the wireless password and SSID to match the old one, (or put the new password/SSID into your computer). People on here can tell you how to do that if you're stuck.
Another alternative is “Powerline adapters”. These are basically plug-in network sockets. You plug one into a power socket next to your computer and plug an ethernet cable into it. You plug a second one in to a socket next to the router and connect that one to the router with an ethernet cable. (Just be aware that, while they work, the speed can be poor if the house wiring is old etc. If you go for that, I’d buy the fastest ones you can find). You’ll find them on Amazon etc.

Re: Changed to Fibre
Finally, after 3-4 weeks of changing to fibre broadband I have managed to get everything working. It has taken several long phone calls to sky, with a booster being sent to me as when I first changed to fibre I wasn't advised I would need a booster ( a friends husbands advised me of this)! I then asked for it. I must say that the people I spoke to were very kind and patient and tried to help but I ended up with no landline for at least those 3-4 weeks. Today after yet another call plus texts from sky I was finally able to get everything working 🤞🤞🤞that's it now. If I had known how difficult it was going to be, I don't think I would have changed it. Thank you also to those on here who tried to help.

Re: Changed to Fibre
@marjie Thanks for replying and keeping the information going, it is always a shock when TWO things happen at the same time, the Fibre installation install and the move relocation of the hub is hard enough to fight, throw in a new hub and then you have two battles on the go at the same time, so it gets very hard to workout which one is the cause and what is the remedy to aid.
At least the booster is taking care of you wireless wi-fi distribution now, your phone as it was not mentioned until now had no idea it's a kind off normal allow 24-48hrs for both the incoming and the outgoing calls to settle and then when you find one or another just not fully getting there raise the flag to sky, anyway glad it's all finally coming together touch wood.
