Change from Broadband to Fibre cabling

A couple of weeks ago I received what I thought was a text from SKY to advise my broadband cabling was being replaced by Fibre, which they requested they undertake on  11th January  24.  Shortly after receiving the text from SKY I received a further text requesting my address & account details, presumably to where the work needed to be carried out. I kindly replied advising that if they were working on SKY behalf then they should have been given my address details etc. I have since been in contact with SKY to enquire if they sent the request, needless to say they advised they were not aware of the work needing doing, so I can only assume that this was a scam, to enable them to enter my property. Have any other SKY users had similar occurrences ?

@NPv as yet the normal way that customers upgrade from copper to fibre is when they order a new service. At some point Openreach will switch whole areas as the decommissioning of the copper network gets close but as far as I know its not happening as yet.

Openreach do use text to communicate but only after they have had an order from Sky so I think you were right to be suspicious

@NPv  Could be also from  another Network Provider (Altnet) such as City Fibre, Virgin Media etc. A there are other provider rolling out a full FTTP service.  Did you ever register an interest with another provider in the past?

Like you I'm a customer here, Sky Employees are clearly identified as such.

As @GD1 says, more likely to be a (very dubious) sales tactic by an altnet supplier.
