Cannot change SSID and password as MySky has a bug

Have received my Hub 6 router and was activated this morning. Internet works fine at 500mbps, but I'm unable to change the SSID/password as the router is not showing in the Product Settings section of the MySky app. I've tried the usual way on the web portal but SSID is 'nanny' locked so I can only see the default settings, can't change it there. Not very happy about this!

I now face the prospect of updateing some 40+ devices in our household to the router's default SSID/password so security and other sensors will work, before I go away tomorrow, so that everyone else can keep on using the internet and devices.

Reading other posts there seems to be no straightforward and sensible fix. Sky support have fobbed me off already today, told by a 'specialist' to reboot the router, uninstall and reinstall MySky and that, when this inevitably failed, that it may take some days for the router to appear in the app. What's the use of that?

The hub settings take approx 24-48hrs to appear in the My Sky app so you have two choices, wait 24-48hrs and leave the majority of your 40+ devices disconnected for the time being or change them all now.

Thanks jamesn123. Seems pretty weird you have to change every device connection then change them back in 24-48h, so double the work. Luckily all the apple devices can reset networks with less fuss, security system is a pain since every sensor needs updating - that can't wait till I get back. Sky don't warn you on signing up of this dumb feature or the nanny settings in the web portal.

You dont *have* to change every device then change them back in 24-48hrs, only the devices you seriously cant live without for a day or so.

It has been raised with community managers before that the time between activating the max hub & the settings being available in the app is too long.

I'd query the description of 'nanny settings in the web portal': all ISPs are moving towards in-app administration of their routers because it's increasingly painful for users to get web browser access to hardware which ships with a self-signed SSL certificate.

Thanks again, I understand. So for the benefit of others in the same boat, Sky are well aware of the latency issue but have not done anything about it. All I'm saying is this was not made clear when signing up and it's an inconvenience. I may be away, others remaining here will be using the devices so they all need to be updated and later reupdated if/when the router appears on MySky. It would be so, so easy if only I could change SSID in the web portal.

I don't doubt this makes things easier for providers at the expense of inconvenience for customers. I didn't mention before but I've also had to update certificates for Office, Exchange and VPN, though that wasn't too onerous since I know what I'm doing. Less fun for those who may not.
