Cannot access my CCTV cameras since broadband upgrade

Hi there, I wonder if anyone can help me. I recently had an upgrade on my broadband to the new full fibre, since the upgrade I can no longer access my CCTV cameras either on Wifi or 5G. I have read so much about this to try and sort it out, I have tried;

- re-booting/resetting the rooter

- re-booting the CCTV DVR

- Resetting the 3 plug in TP links I have around my house

- Logging into the router to look at changing some settings as I have read that some cameras will not work on 5 GHZ and need to be 2.4 GHZ - also spoke to sky yesterday who advised this could be it and tried to go through some steps to do this however I could not see an option to turn off the 5 GHZ, there were two tabs so you could switch between 5 and 2.4 but I could not see anything about turning it off, they both had the setting enabled to say 'merge'Screenshot 2026-02-04 101110.pngScreenshot 2026-02-04 101245.png

I am now at a loss as to what to do at all, any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

Thank you,

Andy

Re: Cannot access my CCTV cameras since broadband upgrade

@JustAndy Did you keep the same sky Hub with the upgrade? If it was all working before should still be ok!

Hi @JustAndy

How are the cameras connected? Are they standalone connected or through some sort of hub/NVR? If its a hub/NVR then how is this connected to the hub?

Did you change your Sky Hub during the upgrade?

In that interface you'd can achieve a similar result by unticking the "Synchronise the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Settings" option, restarting the Hub and then renaming one or both bands.

Re: Cannot access my CCTV cameras since broadband upgrade

@JustAndy Do you see the Enable WiFi Access Point, then uncheck and APPLY bottom off the page, that turns the wireless band off....

There is ONE for the 2.4Ghz and ONE for the 5Ghz, you click on either at the top to flip band settings....

If you have set the Hub for WANoE operation only, adjustments can be made only on Lan Ports 1,2,3 and either/or off the wireless wifi ssid's that you have Enabled for operation!

Re: Cannot access my CCTV cameras since broadband upgrade

Thanks for your reply, it was a new router. The cameras are setup/connected to a DVR in my loft.

And is that DVR connected via ethernet or WiFi to your Sky hub?

Re: Cannot access my CCTV cameras since broadband upgrade

The DVR is in my loft and that has just made me think, there is a cable in my airing cupboard which I think went down the wall and plugged into the back of the router behind my tv. The engineer has put the new router the other side of my lounge as had to be by an outside wall. So if that is the case then the cameras are not plugged in are they so that is my problem?

Re: Cannot access my CCTV cameras since broadband upgrade

@JustAndy That will be it for sure, although i don't like using but for a DVR recorder should be fine, RJ45 Coupler and what ever length off Ethernet cable to reach the new hub position should sort it all out for you! Coupler allows you to through connect the two cables.

Yep thats your problem. Typically DVRs use ethernet to connect back to your hub so if the hub has been moved and no cables reconnected then your DVR is offline.

Re: Cannot access my CCTV cameras since broadband upgrade

Thank you, annoyed really because I never even realised when the engineer came out. Had I actually realised myself then I would have told him, now I am left with the problem and I didn't even ask for the bloody upgrade. I will have to get my camera guy to come and do it for me and I will be passing the bill over to Sky!!

@JustAndy

Highly doubt Sky will be interested in the bill. Its standard proceedure for an engineer to locate the hub close to the point where the fibre comes into your property. Additionally if the engineer wasnt made aware of the ethernet cable running to your DVR they wouldnt have thought it would be an issue to move the hub
