Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
@JZAB3R You may not think so, but why would the customer have to go to one of the other established CF ISP's, sky will more than likely not have all off the Equipment that they need in place if that is what you are trying to point out!

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
Your post makes no sense.
The OP clearly wants a better BB provision via FTTP, and the information provided suggests that OR FTTP is not available, but City Fibre may be. However, not via Sky. Thus meaning the only way of getting FTTP may be with a different ISP.
The only reason I posted was to clear up the cconfusion around WLR3 which everyone was struggling with.
I'll leave it there.

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
I have a reply from Sky.
They just said it's currently not possible to migrate from fttc (OR) to fttp (CF), so I have to wait for OR to upgrade my area, which is another 18 months away.

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
@mapster That may be purely a contractual agreement or sky treading carefully as you are already a OR fttc connected customer, how much off your current contract are you still to go with off the 24 months?

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
@JimM1 17 months. I'm sure I could get out of it as Sky messed me about a little bit but don't see the point now, as expiry aligns with OR FF target date of Dec 2026. Have to just sit and wait me thinks.

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
I have raised your issue to our community manager. No doubt if the reason you were given is right its going to affect a large number of existing sky customers in the same boat as you

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
Great minds think alike. I thought i'd save you the hassle 😁 i just thought there is a lot of commonality between and the zero migration path from g.fast to full fibre. Thought i'd give CM's early warning.

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
@mapster You have certainly thrown the cat amoungst the pigeons but it is good to get it all out there, if i had FF sitting outside NO way would be waiting 17months for OR to possibly get FF, what if they go to the end and then say well we reconsidered and was just not worth it, would be absolutely blazing for sure. Not away to run a business that is for sure.

Exactly . As the fast majority of existing sky part fibre customers will be facing the same dilemma in the coming months if it isn't flagged early 👍

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
@cookiemonsteruk I find it a bit od that Sky seem unable to do a transfer like this, surely they must be able to do it as long as it's not an OTS just an upgrade, but lets see what comes back.

Re: Cancelled Sky/CityFibre order
Ok back when openreach unbundled there exchanges sky put MSAN's (multiservice access nodes) in most exchanges . This allowed sky to offer landlines through their own network SVBN.
In your exchange likely sky haven't unbundled and calls remain WLR yes thats wholesale line rentai CF apparently doesn't route calls so that is the job of the MSAN
Long story short no MSAN no sky thru City fibre. This is not just sky it affects other isp's
