@NileshD you can use third party extenders with the Sky Max hub but a better solution is to disable its WiFi and replacecitvwith third party units as Indo myself or alternatively buy Sky's WiFi Max package and get the matched pod extenders see https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-wifi-max

Having two WiFi signals in the same area is likely cause interference and devices having to disconnect and reconnect as you move round your home. It is better to have matched unitscthat created a WiFi mesh without interference.

@NileshD

Sky dont have a router called a HomeHub6 v2, that would be BT. Which Sky hub do you have?

Thanks Chrisee,

Thanks for your excellent tip. I didn't knopw that that it was possible to swicth off wifi on the router and instead use my own mesh units. I presume I can simply plug my promary mesh signal unit into the Sky Hub Max router via ethernet and the rest will take care oof it self.

Cheers,

Nilesh

@NileshD you are right that is how to set it up.. The switch for the WiiFi is in the Ny Sky app in the advanced settings for the Sky Max hub but rememberturn off both bands.

Re: Can I use 3rdp part MESH extenders with HomeHUB6 v2

Couple of suggestions.

Firstly set up your mesh system in access point mode. You may lose some of it's functionality but it will be much simpler to operate & will avoid double-NAT'ing..

I'd suggest keeping the 5GHz signal alive on the Sky Hub. It will likely be high up on the DFS channels, so unlikely to interfere with the mesh & gives you a way back into the Hub if you hit a problem with the mesh. Otherwise you'll have to connect by ethernet, which can be an issue with so many laptops not having ethernet.

@FLC in my experience given control of the Sky Max hub is via the app the belt and braces approach of leaving the 5GHz band on is not really required. In the event of a failure you can always reset the hubs which takes them back to their defaults. However the  use of access point mode is a good point.
