What did you want me to confirm? Was it what it says online (and on the phone) that I could have? If so, it was any of the broadband services. Personally, I'm interested in Ultrafast.

Apparently some rural exchanges use eci equipment and are limited to 330Mbps that was the stumbling block to get my head round. Best call sky and place the order and see what happens . I have come across one other sky customer in a rural area on 330Mbps until openreach upgrade the exchange to 1Gbps

That has thrown the cat amongst the pigeons because unless the exchange has been upgraded already i don't think you can get more than 330Mbps.
Go ahead with the order and see what happens

Well this is the whole point though... if you guys think I can only get 300 (which is more than I want as it happens) but the site is saying I can have the lot, something tells me the whole thing may be wrong, which was what my gut was saying from the start...?
I am nervous to order and 'see what happens, @cookiemonsteruk, because if it IS wrong, and given I know that comms with Sky can be a little.....'sketchy', (again, call me cynical) I am nervous I will be spending a lot of wasted time trying to get out of it and some money back! 😩

Not sure what the 'authored by' you bit is...

Use the form below and choose "other" from the drop down menu and tell them the exchange you're connected to and that btwholesale say you can get 330Mbps but sky say you can get 1Gbps and you are reluctant to place an order until they clarify the speed discrepancy

#confuseddotcom indeed. You could try the online form as well but that looks pretty definitive to me . It may be the btwholesale checker is out of date.

I thought it changed to 1000 when fttc was enabled ? Could be wrong though
G.fast (a variant of FTTC) is also capable of 330 mbps; Sky have never offered that option though, just the 145 mbps option.

So can anyone tell me where I am at now? Do my various postcode checks mean I can actually get these broadband speeds (as in the Ultrafast Sky one) - or indeed ANY of the providers listed in the Openreach checker that I did? (See bottom of this post for list)
Why does Bt.com site say this:
Does FTTP and ONT mean I can get MY OWN fibre connection to the house even if the area doesn't have fibre cables (like those BT and Virgin used before) or something?
I guess because I don't really understand how this works, plus why I couldn't get any of this just a few months back, and also because none of my neighbours in my village have any of these, I am really in the dark here.... So guys, please can someone explain what my options are, and if possible, as simply as possible) why I can now, but couldn't previously have this?
Thank you.
Openreach checker providers list:
Amvia
Andrews & Arnold Ltd
Aquiss
BT
Cerberus Networks
Your Coop Broadband
EE
Cuckoo
Fastnet
fibre.net
Giganet
ID Net
Internet Central
LCC Communications
Ogi

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@ADWillow all the indications are that Openreach can accept an order for a FTTP service from an ISP on that list. Therefore you can potentially order from any of the ISPs including Sky. Whether the ISP can accept your order will depend on whether they have back haul capacity at your exchange which with Sky is highly likely but not guaranteed.
The actual order process may take sometime I am in a similar position my road has been recently upgraded but the actual fibre distribution point is some way from my home so further work is required as mine is the first order. I was intially quoted 4 wekks but after survey I was told it may take a bit longer - a crew is due today to do a dig to run the fibre if they turn up.
Hope that helps.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out morePerhaps its possible that the community has paid for the FTTPoD deployment as an effort to get the area fibre, hence limited to 330mbps? I would imagine Openreaches tools dont see many areas that have paid for this kind of thing so just display the full fat FTTP speed of 1gbps.

**bleep**????
I just got this email from Openreach (remember, the Openreach checker showed it is available now at my property! See earlier threads) Now what should I think? 2 companies have said they can provide it for m - but I assume they are going by the 'checker' results as I and you have?
