Call from sky - is it genuine ?

I was called today by an 0333 number and the caller said they were from Sky Broadband.  Is there any way of checking that this was genuine?

ISPs very rarely proactively call customers, so an abundance of caution is advisable.

They never call to offer speed fixes or security advice, and being told to download and install remote access software is always a scam.

Any number can be spoofed.

With any calls from 'Sky' (especially unexpected calls) if the caller asks for your telephone password to confirm you're the account holder (which I would expect a genuine Sky agent to do) initially give an INCORRECT one on purpose. If the caller doesn't challenge it then you know it'll likely be a scam call.
