Broadband speed

I have just connected to Gigafast broadband which is supposed to be around 900 mbs download but when I run a broadband checker it says getting around 100mbs. - Jimdec12

Hi thanks for replying I was using broadband tester on mobile so over wifi

Oh do you mean your Sky checker is only showing 100mbps? Can you post a screenshot of it?

Yeah so your never going to get 900mbps over WiFi, neither your router nor likely your phone support WiFi 6 which is the first building block to try and achieve those kinds of speeds over WiFi.

If you want to check the actual speed coming in to your router you need to use an ethernet cable.

@Cromdubh Try running the test with your VPN switched off (I can tell your using one by the key symbol), that may be limiting the speed.

James and Dave thank you so much for your input. It is starting to make sense to me now - my 60+ brain is near frazzled and as you have guessed I'm not that tech savvy.
