Broadband speed

I have just joined broadband max but my speed is not getting about 500mps and it won't go above 200mps upstairs.

the broadband checker online says there is no problem but when checking over the phone there is a problem.

how do I raise this

Re: Broadband speed

@reggie171 The link below is all about speed as from sky so read it all first, you do not get 500Mb/s all over the house, the further you get away from the hub, throw in a couple walls, rooms above then the signal gets weaker and the speed plummets.

https://www.sky.com/help/articles/broadband-speeds-explained

And for speed related issues good read.

Re: Broadband speed

Thank you for your reply.

i have gone through this.

i was with talk talk originally, in my sons bedroom I was getting readings of 600mps+  now with sky I am lucky if I get 200mps.

nothing has changed, router is in the same place walls have not changed.  I can't even play games on my phone in my bedroom without the signal dropping

Re: Broadband speed

@reggie171 IT has CHANGED you have another hub, no two are alike, and if you thinks so you are wrong. What sky hub do you have now the black or the white one. Also what speed package do you have from sky!

Re: Broadband speed

I have the white router and sky full fibre gigafast.

i understand the router and provider is different but the speed should not be that different.

Re: Broadband speed

So my set up with talk talk was an eero 6 router and an eero 6 mini extender which was upstairs.
Looking at my eero app my top download speeds were 937mbps-944mbps.

I ran a speed broadband test on my phone next to the router and it came up at 458mbps.

i called sky and they said it was a problem with my line which they say they have sorted . Re-tested and now my speed is just 701mbps.  So an improvement upstairs though in my bedroom I am only getting 7.07mbps

router is in the same place as before at the moment the sky product just seems so bad compared to what i am used to.

the sky router is also 5 yards from my ps5 pro and Fortnite lags init (yes I play abit). Not impressed at all at the moment.

it is a new build house well now about 8 years old.

speed tested with a iPhone

is there anyway I can get the eero mini working with the sky router

Re: Broadband speed

@reggie171 When you got the sky package, did you get also the sky max addon package for booster's?

You can get the mini to work if you get one of these below.

Amazon eero 6 mesh Wi-Fi router | 900 Mbps Ethernet | Coverage up to 140 m2 | Connect 75+ devices | ...

Re: Broadband speed

Hi

No I didn't get the sky max add on, seems silly to be you need to £4 extra month just to get something to extend or make your WiFi work.

i have since managed to bridge to the eero router and works much better

Re: Broadband speed

@reggie171 That will definitely sort it out with the EERO in play. Did you have to use both to get it all working?

@reggie171
There is a big difference in your setup then, the Eero mesh system is much more powerful than a standalone Sky Max hub.

Re: Broadband speed

@JimM1 yes I got both hubs working .

ive got one plugged in the back of the sky router, bridged that to erro.

The second hub is upstairs as booster but I've wired it to my boys PS5.

just with the sky max a internet test on the PS5 was 120mps at most.... last test with the eero was 700+mbps.

i only live in a modest terraced 3 bedroom house new build estate.  I can't understand why the sky max rourer is so bad

Re: Broadband speed

@reggie171 If we new the answer to that question then would be millionaires by now. Never used so cannot say, 100% Asus user real hubs....

EERO is up there just never experienced them as yet, but they do appear to be rated....

Also you are now aware that real equipment does a far better job, sky could do better and the next generation will maybe push it on a bit, as long as a phone ever has to be used then it is just not for me....
