Broadband speed

Over the last few months, we have experienced huge variations In our tested speed using Ogla speedtest, variations from 113mbps down to 1.8mbps. Sky tells me that all is ok having had OpenReach out to us twice. Gone through the router reset procedure many times, sometimes it improves, back above our standard 100 speed but only for a few hours then it drops off again. Any chance that the router is not ageing very well as we've had it for many years now?

Re: Broadband speed

Folks, you're never going to believe what I've discovered. In January, I took delivery of a Bogist C1 Pro off-road E-Scooter to help me walk our Malamute Anika around our local farm (74 years old, with bad hips...) The router is in the living room, whilst the scooter lives and is charged in the hallway. The goddamn charger when operating, dependant on how much current is needed by how low the battery is at the time, directly affects the router operating speeds!! Having moved the charging station to the shed, everything works fine! The damned charger is obviously emitting some sort of EM interference that screws with the router signal!! Everyone BE AWARE.

Re: Broadband speed

Thanks for your suggestions sir, I have just tried every combination that yourself and Sky offered to access the router and a few I thought up myself and I can't get passed the password/username screen and although I'm 74 great care was taken to do it right. Currently although Sky checkup has told me nothing is wrong after yet another reset and 1/2 hour pause before use, it's showing 18.6mbps...

That appears to be a G.fast connection, which means you should be using an SR204 Sky Broadband Hub from 2019 at the earliest.

@Nigel43 glad you found the issue. One of the disadvantages with the G.Fast system is that the carrier frequencies used are quite easily disrupted by other devices such as Powerline networking adapters and now your mobility scooters charger.

G.Fast is not going to be used in the future as full fibre lines replace copper phone lines..
