For Sky Broadband, engineers need to drill holes and install a new ONT and cabling to another room. I am not sure if we can get our landlord’s approval. If so, we cannot proceed, and may need to return to our previous contract?
Secondly, who will Sky pay for these works? Thanks

Openreach covers up to £3200 of the cost for FTTP installation at any individual address: this is part of their £15 billion investment in moving the national network from antique copper to optical fibre.
The actual work is done by Openreach, an Openreach subcontractor or, in rarer cases, one of the small number of Sky employees who have been certified by Openreach to have hands-on the telecoms network.

That would be short-sighted of them: properties with faster internet typically bring in more rental income, and eventually the copper network will be retired anyway.

Re: Broadband fibre installation
Thanks community, very good to know.
Just please the question regarding where the ONT should be placed.
The normal location of the ONT, I suppose, would be next to the consumer unit in the wardrobe, which is next to the termination point of the fibre cable outside. It would suffice to drill a hole and add a power socket.
However, our wired network branches from the space under our stairs. This is the second space down the hallway: wardrobe, toilet, then stairs. That is where we need the new broadband.
The question is: how can I organise with Sky/OpenReach that we need work in addition to just drilling holes?
Thank you.

They are under no obligation to provide any additional support with linking to an existing network, and typically don't have time or materials to do so: that's not in the remit of the national FTTP rollout.
If you need to extend ethernet cable from the existing network location to the ONT you'll need to sort that out yourselves or comission someone else to do it.

Re: Broadband fibre installation
Ok, clear. In that case, also a new power socket needs to be installed in the wardrobe. That is the minimum work to connect the property.
Whose remit is that?
Thanks.

Yours or the landlord.
