Broadband engineer visit

I have an engineer booked to install sky full fibre broadband. I am on the 3rd floor of a block of flats and my landlord is worried about them saying they may need to "drill" somewhere. Can someone explain what they need to do in my flat around drilling etc? Thanks!

Have they installed a box above your door yet.

Once it shows mdu on the bt wholesale site then the landlord has already given private permission to carry all work.   Any further drilling will involve a small hole to bring fibre into your flat

Unless it's  a  new build  they will probably  have  to drill holes  for the fibre optic cable  to come in and for the optic network terminal  to be installed  in your  flat and also to put the grey box outside  as the cable  comes  from the telegraph  pole to the box outside  and then  from that box to the o n t box in the flat but I am not sure  how they will  do it on a third floor  flat ?

Correct.  Your previous post confirmed mdu multiple dwelling unit. Is there a small white box above or near your door

Re: Broadband engineer visit

I am not sure. I havent actually moved yet, sorry 😞

I still dont understand why I need an engineer if the previous tenant already had sky wifi. Am i correct is saying they're enoforcing an upgrade from fttc to fttp

Not so much enforcing more like getting a head start on moving people over to fttp starting with new customers moving into new properties. Some existing tenants may stay on fttc if they want.

P.S. the box should look like this

And the fibre should already have been bought into a central distribution point and finally bought to all flats

Just say a very small drill hole will be required to bring the fibre pigtail into your flat or alternatively don't say anything
