Broadband dropping speed even with Ethernet cable connection. Autistic son can’t cope HELP!

We have the only package for internet in our village. Fibre to cabinet then old fashioned wires to houses. Wi-Fi kept dropping so got Ethernet cable for sons computer. He has ASD computer is his life. Plays a game then gets kicked off or band as the internet is slow and he can't keep up with others in games as the pages lag. I'm being driven slowly insane. Please help I don't know what else to do. This happens all time of day and night. I know others with sky have internet issues in the village as do others with BT etc 

sky speed check says 40. But which check goes down to as low as 4 and highs of 29. Please some advice would be gratefully received. I've even looked at moving from our village
