Broadband dropping and constant latency issues.

I moved from Virgin and the Sky service has never been solid. However, in the last 3 weeks it has become terrible. I run an internet connection monitor and I experience constant drop outs and latency issues, e.g. 2,000ms up to 15,000ms.

When I reported it the guy said "You have too many devices connected." When I explained to him that although I had 21 devices connected to the network i.e. they had an IP address, there were only 2 devices actually consuming bandwidth - I was browsing on my laptop and had my Amazon Dot playing the radio. He said it was irrelevant whether they were consuming data, but that they were on the network. I challenged this and said that the Sky Hub (SR203) can connect up to 60 devices. He said "It can, but we recommend less than 10." **bleep**? I did prove this wrong by kicking devices off of the network and going down to 7 connections. No different. How insulting to be fed this kind of nonsense.

I am waiting to be told that it's my equipment as I have a mix of ethernet, powerline and wifi devices in the house. However, I've proved that wrong by spending the whole of today working next to the hub and being connected directly by ethernet. Guess what.....same problems.

I've even sent them the logs that I take everyday.

I flagged this again on Monday and was told "It's an issue outside of your property and will take 2 days to resolve." I was fine with that. Got a text the next day to say it had been resolved, but nothing has changed. I called again and was told "Too many devices."

The service is appalling and I'm going to take this to Ofcom.

@ape72

Your router suggests no drops for the last 70 hours its been up. Is there anything in the Sky router log which suggests a drop in WAN?

Re: Broadband dropping and constant latency issues.

It's been OK for 3 days now, which is good. But the Sky solutions to this problem don't make sense.
