Broadband connection dropping

Hello,

I`ve been having some issues with connection dropping everyday around the same time (round 4 pm). I should preface that this issue begun about 2 months ago with the previous braodband supplier (NOW)., and seems to follow me over to Sky.

I had only just switched over to Sky yesterday, however the same issue is still popping up.

I am keeping track of the router logs, here`s an extract for one of the instances of bradband dropping today:

>syslog: ptm0.1 - WAN link DOWN.
>syslog: DHCP lease invalid(WANoE). Connection DOWN.
>syslog: Clear IP addresses. IP connection DOWN.
>syslog: Voice IP Connection Down

Let me know what is causing this as it is proving quite disturbing while WFH

Thanks

Re: Broadband connection dropping

@JWielgomas What sky hub do you have and currentky using for connection, that brief extract from the log, then yes your wan connection was dropped, the hub indicates that by a change in light state. See link below.

This link providers information about the coloured lights on the various hubs

Re: Broadband connection dropping

Hi,

It looks like I've got the broadband hub. I don't think this has got anything to do with the router itself as the same thing was happening with the router from a different provider.

I will keep the logs every time the connection drops in case that's going to be of any help.

thanks

Re: Broadband connection dropping

@JWielgomas Have a look at the stat's link on the broadband hub, if you have a bad copper line it will show you in that. One second and i will link the tips from above.

(1) How to read your Sky Hub statistics

@JWielgomas  Have you called Sky regarding these drops that can be seen on your router stats to ask them to run further tests or to monitor the connection for a period for you?

If someone has helped give them Like.

If you have found this solution helpful please tick this as the answer.

Re: Broadband connection dropping

@JWielgomas Something seriously going on just look how much you have been slammed, 80Mb/s all the way down to 35Mb/s...

If i did not know better would suspect you either have a crappy Master socket filter or a really bad line. Master socket we can test if you have a spare filter lying around just need to know what type of socket and connection.

Re: Broadband connection dropping

@Highlinder Aye I have. I`ve got the engineer coming in today! We`ll see what they say

@JimM1 I don`t think I`ve got one no

The person in support also recommended a booster. Now, correct me if I`m wrong, but isn`t a booster meant to boost the connection between the router and computers/teles etc?

The idea of a booster just sounds like I`d have a stronger more stable connection between my desktop and the router, but it will not help with the router not being able to connect to the actual broadband right?

Just need to wrap my head around it as it comes at a cost separate to that of broadband itself.

@JWielgomas Will respond once you have the Engineer talk and they let you know what they find out with your system!
