Broadband/WiFi issue

I have noticed for a while now, that my Internet when been upstairs isn't very good. Yet, when I go on the app to check broadband/WiFi it say's it's good. Its usually around 4.3-4.6. In the bathroom I am having to put mobile data on and its intermittent in both bedrooms. . If anyone could help, it would be appreciated.

@Bee70 wifi dignals lose strength each time they pass through a wall and are completly blocked by metal objects like radiators. In many homes with a single wifi router signal strength drops to an unacceptable level in distant rooms. Sky offer two add on packages the first is Broadband Boost which costs 35 a month if you buy thst and speeds in any room in your home is under3Mb/s then they will send you a simple wifi booster if asked. Boosters should be placed in an area with a good signal and then they re-broadcastit hopefully improving signal levels in problem rooms.

Sky's second and more useful paxkage in Wifi Max which costs around £7.50 a month. That gets you a new faster hub and if speeds drop below 10Mb/s (25Mb/s if you are on the fastest full fibre contract in any room they will send out an extender pod which is a more modern extender in addition if thst doesnt work thry will arrange for an engineer to visit who can authorise another 2 pods.This set up is both faster and more reliable than the simple booster.

@Bee70

As @Chrisee indicates, Sky loans wireless booster hardware free under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of 'Broadband Boost' and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell them except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Inevitably some have leaked onto a certain auction site, but Sky won't offer support with using these.

Confusingly the 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above.

Re: Broadband/WiFi issue

Hi there, Wifi is brilliant around the router but the further away you go, the weaker the signal, therefor the wifi speed decreases. I had this issue and I used an ethernet powerline kit, they're about £20 on amazon, and you stick one ethernet cable from your router into a power socket, then the other one into say an access point for around £30 and you boost your wifi signal. Some newer houses have ethernet already built in, so if you have it, that would be alot better, also the wifi speed will be slower with the more items you have plugged in.

Re: Broadband/WiFi issue

See my Internet is also on and off in the living room and that's where the rooter is. If I want to watch anything other than whats on the TV guide it either buffers or it won't work at all.

@MJSTO loss of connection between midnight and 5am can be down to work being done on the network. It is only if your line is still down in the morning there is any reason to be concerned.
