Broadband Access in all Rooms
Looking to move to Sky but concerned over the broadband capabilities in each room
I have BT at the moment and 4 Discs to boost the signal and then hard wire Xboxes into two discs (kids rooms) and then one in my room and the office. Also have the Hybrid thing in case the Wi-Fi goes completely
Do Sky have something similar as don't want to change and only have Wi-Fi in the Living Room as it won't transmit far enough?!
Thanks

Re: Broadband Access in all Rooms
@
Sky loans wireless booster hardware 'free' under the terms of the 'WiFi Guarantee' element of the legacy 'Broadband Boost' add-on and the 'Enhanced Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' part of the 'WiFi Max' subscription supplement: they don't otherwise provide or sell boosters except to resolve issues with Sky Q. Phoning Sky to go through a telephone diagnosis is required to have a booster or pod allocated to the account. Inevitably some Sky booster hardware has leaked onto a certain auction site and elsewhere online but Sky won't offer support with using these, and Max pods acquired that way won't work at all.
Confusingly the default 'Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee' bundled with all new Sky Broadband orders where Boost or Max is not added by the customer doesn't actually provide booster hardware, and is essentially a sales lead generator for the supplements mentioned above plus a one month broadband subscription refund.

Re: Broadband Access in all Rooms
Thanks
Checking out my address it says the Wall to Wall Wi-Fi Guarantee is included but only 'Superfast' but doesn't give me an option to choose any other service
So I'm guessing I potentially could get a month free but no WiFi around the house?!

Re: Broadband Access in all Rooms
@BobJerry Your BT Smart wireless disk's are they black or white, white is good and if so do you own them? No equivalent on the Hybrid feature, not something that sky does, you ARE not getting 3 wireless extender pods to cover the whole home of the bat and out off the box start up with sky, does not work that way, same rules as you had with BT for there whole home wi-fi connect system unless you did something special on the BT side.

Re: Broadband Access in all Rooms
Thanks - they are black and I have four of them in different rooms, BT provided them, they're not mine. I go on to my BT app and click 'add disc' then it's boosted the WiFi in that room
Not that fussed about the Hybrid but dont want to move to Sky and then I can't get the boosters in each room

@BobJerry Then read the Sky Max information link that was supplied, but it goes like this, you get the sky Max hub, then you have to contact sky, they run a test, decide yes/nay you need a booster and they send the first one to you. 2nd and 3rd require an engineer to visit work out what/why/where they need to be and do the needful, that all takes some time to acheive. All in the link about sky max and it's guarantees with all the pitfall's and speeds.

Re: Broadband Access in all Rooms
I got that - thank you
So to change I'd have to be inferior and hope that they'll come and let me have boosters!!
I can't be in that position unfortunately

Re: Broadband Access in all Rooms
@BobJerry Just be careful as you are on BT, i had to leave EE months ago when they updated the FW on the Smarthub+ Router, turned it into toast in one failed overnight update. seen the BT Smarthub2 update April this year, and they are doing the same with that trying to get it all EE app ready, hopefully they don't end up killing that really good router!👍
Your Smarthub2, whole home smart wireless disk setup is going to be very difficult for any ISP to beat! Even the EE dodo versions....
