Hi my WiFi keeps dropping. I reported this problem 2 months ago. An engineer came and checked the connection outside my property and acknowledged that it was bad. He fixed the problem and told me that if the problem happens again I should report it and maybe request a better router as my router is an old model.
thanks Ben.

Find out more@Bencol1 standard engineer's excuse is "its not me gov its the router" when in practice a router cannot sort line issues but they want to get out of the door. Sky will be replacing the flat style hubs sometime in 2025 not because of performance but because they won't meet the new security requirements when these are brought in. However Sky have made it clear this being done in batches not on demand. The newer hub they provide has broadly the same modem stage that controls the connection assuming you are on FTTC aka partial fibre so minimal gain for your issue.
Run the Connection Checker in the My Sky app to see if it offers help.In all likelihood the issue is an aging copper line which is having issues due to weather. Openreach only intervene these days when the automatic systems cannot stabilise the line without dropping speeds below the guaranteed speed as they plan to replace the copper lines with full fibre in the next few years. You can call Sky and see what they say but leave it until after today as only a minimal staff working.
