Bad wifi

I recently got  a new router have better signal but it seems as soon as I use more than one device the WiFi is slow or doesn't work I am having to use mobile data while I am in my house to be able to access internet

@1997Shannon a new Sky hub will not have improved the speed your line delivers so first thing to check is the speed to the hub which is best done by using the service checker in the My Sky app which will tell you the current connection speed if you click on thst it will show the history fir the past couple of weeks and ghe guaranteed speed for your line. If the line us running slowly the app should offer further help.

If that is not the issue then try testing speeds close to the hub to see if they are close to the speed the hub is getting the issue is simply the signal is not strong enough where you were testing before. However multiple devices using the connection have to share the bandwidth of the connection so for exampke somebody streaming video on a slow line can stop other people using the connection.

Re: Bad wifi

Hello today my 5ghz shut off today and hasn't come back on just done a speed test and I'm getting 21ms ping 100 upload and 60 download considering we pay for skys best gigafast package and pay extra for the fancy router this is extremely disappointing when they ganrenteed us 600 upload 200 download !!!!

this is not the first time this has happened

@Buster20021 check the hub's settings in the My Sky app that the 5GHz WiFi band is set to be on.if it is definitely not working, ie not showing on an app like WiFi Analyzer, in a room close to the hub then call Sky as it sounds like a faulty hub.

However as I hope you are aware the 5GHz band has less range than the 2.4GHz band and in rooms further from the hub may well be the only band you can link to. WiFi range depends on the layout and type of construction of your home.
