Hi everyone , I've been using sky fibre 1gb via Asus rt-ax58u router for 6 months. It's been working great until today. Initially my connection upload and downloed speed dropped down to 0.02 maps and has been losing connection completely intermittently ever since.
Ive tried reseting the router and re applying all the settings but it doesn't fix the problem. When I connected a sky hub router the fibre speed returns to normal 945mbps. So it has to be the Asus router at fault. Can someone shed some light on this ? Thanks @cookiemonsteruk @TomThumb5ive

I am interpreting that as you have traditional qos set to low bandwidth.
Try setting qos to adaptive qos to prioritise what packets you want to have priority . With 1Gbps you shouldn't need to limit speeds to devilces

This is what my QOS settings look like. What would the best settings for upload and download bandwidth ?

I would use automatic settings which should detect the full speed coming in to the ont/hub and then prioritise the packets in the section below ie gaming, tv streaming etc

Appreciate all of your help , unfortunately it doesn't look like the router will connect.its really got me puzzled. It was working fine this morning and the all of a sudden nothing. So strange.

@WhackyZack Anything over a 500Mb/s connection & QOS shouldn't be needed.
on a 1gig line definitely turn it off.
I'm not familiar at all with the settings required by sky IRL, but @cookiemonsteruk will confirm if a vlan tag is needed.
I thought it wasn't needed on any fttp offering???
The only advice i can offer on top of your troubleshooting,
is to backup the router config.
Factory reset the router from the gui,
+
Factory reset via the routers buttons,
>
Test on a clean router with no configuration changes (or minimal to obtain a connection) & report back.
The saved configuration file will put you back if things haven't improved 👍
If things have improved, don't rely on your saved configuration file, use minimal changes to get things up & running as needed👍

Yep, sky ireland requires vlan id enabled and set to 10.
I agree bandwidth qos shouldn't be required but adaptive qos only prioritises the packets by usage and not by bandwidth

Thanks for the suggestions @TomThumb5ive
I've tried the gui reset and also the reset on the router. Unfortunately with no joy.
If I plug in a Sky Hub router everything works fine . I get 954mbps with the Sky Hub. The Asus router receives a trickle of 0.02 mbps and drops in and out of connection every 15/20 mins.
@cookiemonsteruk has given some QOS settings to apply but they don't seem to have any effect. It's so frustration
