I have Sky Gigafast FTTP. My setup is the Openreach ONT on the wall to an Asus RT-AX86U Pro router. I have 2.4GHz and 5GHz separated, with separate SSIDs.
Been consistently getting 900Mbps download over 5GHz WiFi while in the same room as the router, however, yesterday I had to unplug the router, and ever since turning it back on I'm only getting 500Mbps over the 5GHz WiFi. No amount of reboots have fixed it.
Still getting over 900Mbps wired, it's just the WiFi that has slowed down. Have changed no settings whatsoever.
Have done a WiFi scanner analyser, and there is nothing else close by using the same channel (set to auto and currently on channel 100).
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, managed to fix this.
I turned off DFS Channels in the router settings and now the speed over WiFi is back to 900Mbps 🙂

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@sedalbis given the ONT is delivering the correct speed to the hub as demonstrated by the ethernet speeds the issue is with your router or device. To get 900Mb/s over Wifi would require a Wifi6 connection so both the device and the router have to support wifi6. 500Mb/s sounds like the speed a wifi5 connection would provide.

Nope, it's a WiFi 6 router and the device I am using to test the speed is WiFi 6 compatible and is connected via WiFi 6. As I said, it was working fine before I rebooted the router.

Have you tried resetting the Asus to factory then just putting back in the Sky connection settings?

Nope, will give that a try tonight, thanks!

@sedalbis it's not uncommon for a pro router to need a few Hrs to settle down after a setting change,
even a reboot could trigger some fine tuning sub routine, so treat any benchmarks accordingly.
With a few hours uptime now, can you confirm the
channel bandwidth is set as required ?
Attainable Throughport ?

Hi
I have just purchased this router.
Did this fix continue to work for you?
Thanks 🙂
