Re: Apps running slowly
Did an engineer ever get back to you? I have the exact issues with mine. Just mobile devices that are an issue. Its so annoying. I had virgin before and had none of these issues. I'm tempted to but a new router but its an expense I'd rather not have

Re: Apps running slowly
Nope. Absolutely silent, despite sending me a text saying someone would call back. It's clearly a wider fault but nobody seems interested

If you don't have multiroom, is it possible to connect the Q box via ethernet cable and turn off the Q box wifi entirely?
If you do have multiroom, try disabling the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi via the hidden engineer menu (Home > 0, 0, 1, Select), you may need to use the wps button to re-pair the mini boxes.
Another option would be to go back to the hidden engineering menu on your main Sky box (Home > 0, 0, 1, Select). Under 'Network', change the 5GHz channel width from 80MHz to 40MHz (either option). Again, you may need to use the wps button to re-pair the mini boxes.

Re: Apps running slowly
Exactly the same here! We are unable to get full fibre but have Supefast part fibre since 2 days ago. I understand that they say it takes a while to settle down (never understood this as it's the same line they all use!) and doing a speed test it is showing as marginally faster than before however my phone is definitely lagging - especially on a game I play. Sky Q just seems to lose connection and it took a lot of faffing and rebooting to get that re connected this morning. They are sending out an engineer as we do have the sky max so i want to try the boosters that i'm paying for but they don't provide unless you need them!! however i will be pulling from this contract in the cooling off period if this doesn't improve.

Re: Apps running slowly
Sorry a lot of this makes no sense to me, I genuinely don't have any background in this type of stuff. Just want a stable Internet connection to my mobile devices.

Do you have friends or family nearby who can assist?

Re: Apps running slowly
I mean yeah, but all this hassle really shouldn't be on me, my friends or my family. Sky should be trying to resolve for the customer seeing as I pay them £100 a month for their service...

Re: Apps running slowly
I have bought an Asus TUF-AX3000 router. Was £75 off amazon. At the minute I have plugged it into my sky box and the wifi on it runs miles better. No laggy phone and faster speeds upstairs. I may try wiring it straight to the wall but for now its just connected to the sky box.

Re: Apps running slowly
See this is great, and I am glad to hear it has had a positive impact for you. But why are customers being short changed with poor routers which are clearly affecting multiple users? I'm not spending £75 on a new router, Sky can fulfil their obligations and provide me with a fully functioning one that all devices can connect to.
I still don't know what it is exactly, but there is clearly an issue with the router and the connectivity. My connection is solid all round the house on mobile, the speed when tested is fine too. But apps still run slowly despite this.

Re: Apps running slowly
Yeah. I totally agree. I just couldn't be bothered with it all. I remember having issues on virgin and upgrading to get a better box. Seems the basic boxes are rubbish and they just want us to pay more for things.
virgin went up too much so I ended up joining sky. Hopefully thats the end of my issues as loads seem to complain and no solution seems to exist apart from paying for your own router

Re: Apps running slowly
Hi.
I am wondering if this is primarily a router issue?
the latest Max 7, the white one, seems very reluctant to change web pages or sites, it is like it as having to check whether this is "allowed" every time. Tried messing with the security and other settings on the new router but improvements were marginal at best.
the simplest most effective solution for me was to refit my older black router with the 4 leds. Dead easy to do but you will probably need the router password to hand when you reconnect all your devices.
my system is simple, 4iThings and a Q box, all seem fine. Big improvement!

It's the old 'you pay peanuts, you get monkeys' thing. People want cheap broadband but are then not happy when it comes with a cheap hub.
A mesh system would work as well rather than replacing the hub entirely for around the same money but giving you perhaps 3 wifi extenders (along with more ethernet ports) around the house. You can then wire mini boxes, TVs, game consoles and computers directly to an extender and not rely on poorer built in wifi.

Re: Apps running slowly
I'm sorry but this doesn't wash with me. The customer shouldn't be the ine who ultimately siffers from a poor product. I pay over £100 a month for TV and Internet, which in my view is a considerable amount of money. The least they could do is supply a working router. Other providers I have been with previously have never had this issue, so why Sky?

Re: Apps running slowly
The speeds are fine around the house. I pay for what we need. The issue is phones lagging, nothing else. Phones even say a decent speed. I don't need the coverage. The lagging happens next to the sky router. Its clearly something to do with the sky router as loads seem to have the issue
