Apps not working properly
Hi
I switched to sky broadband last week (300 full fibre) and have had no issues at all with connectivity or speed.
My tv is streaming and has not dropped out once, I also work from home and have had zero dropouts.
I have had 2 issues, 1 resolved and 1 unresolved.
My PS5 was saying every few seconds ‘WiFi lost’ - when I tested the connection it was connecting to the access point, but not the internet. After looking online, I manually changed the DNS settings and it’s worked fine since.
The issues that remains is with mobile apps specifically. I have an iPhone 15, and when connected to the WiFi, the apps are really slow to load data, for example if I click a tweet it will take 5-10 seconds to load the replies, with my doorbell camera app it will take 10-15 seconds to load and sometimes just time out.
I know the issue is not with my phone as if I disconnect WiFi these apps load the data almost instantly as expected.
This happens all the time, even when I am using the internet for work or tv with zero drop outs, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with my internet disconnecting temporarily.
I’m not massively technical but it seems the internet is working fine but something to do with how apps load data is not being very compatible with my internet.
I’ve looked online and stumbled across something about ipv6 issues with Sky, but I have no idea what that is.
I wondered if anyone else had experienced a similar issue, or could offer any guidance?
My concern is that I didn’t have these issues with my previous provider so I don’t want them to remain long term now with Sky.
I’ve seen a few other posts on here which suggested disabling the broadband shield, which I’ve done but nothing has changed.
Thanks in advance

Re: Apps not working properly
@Alexwire10 Sky operate a fully IP6 compliant network and havecdone somfor some years and a lot of the information online is out dated and incorrect. Bandwidth (commonly known as speed) is only one part of the quality of your connection and as you have founs you can have loads of bandwith but still get lag.
A couple of suggestions first go into the network settings for the Sky conection and add a public DNS service to the list I use Google's myself which are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Also check thst you have not set the connection to low data mode and experiment with the othercsettings. Although it should not affectvapps privste internetvrelay can slow down Safari but is a useful, protection in my opinion..
65inch Sky Glass, 3 Sky Streaming Pucks, Sky Ultrafast + and Sky SR213(white Wifi Max hub) main Wifi from 3 TP-Link Deco M4 units in access point mode

Re: Apps not working properly
Thanks, I've tried the DNS change and also checked low power, private relay i turned off for 24 hours yesterday but it made no changes - I haven't actually experienced any issues with safari, it's purely apps which i can't work out why

Re: Apps not working properly
I am also having this same issue. I recently had an engineer rewire my ONT because of speed issues coming into my router. After this fix, my ethernet connection is completely fine and my WiFi download speeds are also fine and I can watch things on my TV no issue.
The only issue is apps on my phone (Android) and iPad just do not work or take a long time to buffer. I have also gone through all the resets, DNS changes etc on forums but nothing works. It is just strange given everything else is fine with the connection.

Re: Apps not working properly
Hey, so I spend over two days on the live chat and apparently no issues from their side and they told me it's my device that's the problem. Pretty frustrated with the whole thing because I know it's not my devices (I have tested on mobile data, and another family members WiFi who are on sky and they work fine).
I also just got a new Nintendo Switch 2 yesterday and that won't even connect to the WiFi! The wired connection was absolutely fine, so it has to be the WiFi. No idea what else to do right now.
