Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

@deniz just tried that now, still didn't work , do I need to reboot my router after changing it?

That does not fix the issue at all. I also don't know why you posed 4 times...

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

@deniz The topic is not phone connection, it is all about Homepod.

And yor solution does not work in this case.

Homepod still does not work on Sky.

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

I shouldn't have needed to, but I gave up waiting for a solution and bought a £20 WiFi extender for my HomePods to connect to, which solved the problem instantly.

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

Can I ask what extender you bought please and how does this work I.e do all devices then need to connect to the extender if you want to using iPhone airplay to the HomePod - or can iPhone stay on the hub connection?

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

@northernMike I think that devices must be on the same network, so that means that you would have to use the extender wifi for all devices that you want to use with Homepod.

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

At the moment my phone is also on the extender network. I'll see what happens if my phone is on the Sky network, although I suspect it won't then be able to communicate with the HomePods. My home is small and most other devices are on Ethernet, so in my case its no great disadvantage for my phone to stay on the extender network. An alternative might be to use a wireless access point (which my extender can also function as) to completely replace the Sky WiFi. But should we have to be doing that...?

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

Thanks both. I really appreciate the help and I've got the extender.

Sky haven't exactly been forthcoming with help on this or provided solutions. I won't be renewing my contract that's for sure!

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

Update: Sky have sent me a new hub (model SR203) which arrived today and after connecting it up to my house and seperating the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, I was able to succesfully reconnect my HomePods to my WiFi once again. So far, everything is fully functional once again, either on the 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands.

This new hub is (currently) running FW 7.03.0100.R, not 7.03.0400.R which the previous one was running before, so this absolutely confirms the newer revision of firmware for the hub is the cause of fault (at least for me anyway).

Anyone who has a hub running 7.03.0400.R - request Sky to send out a new router to your address. It should fix the issue for you and get you up and running again.

(Admittedly, this success might be short-lived if the router suddenly updates overnight, so I might be back to square one soon......)

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

I got a new router too, and all connected again this afternoon. I had a long conversation with Sky about the issue and had to point him to this forum post. He said he was unaware of the issue, but didn't hesitate in sending out a new route, 4.2 which I think was the same as the old one I will post back, but for now it's all working as before December problem.

Lets see if this is the solution!?

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

My issue was also resolved by Sky sending a new Sky Hub few weeks ago (I added a detailed post at that time - post no 148)

I can confirm again, for me, it was also to do with the Firmware Version 7.03.0400.R - none of the HomePod Minis were working but after getting the replacement router which was on (and still on) Firmware Version 7.03.0100.R HomePod Minis started working again and still working.

Only way to resolve this issue it seems is by getting a replacement router which has 7.03.0100.R

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

Only problem being if the router does auto update at some point to the problem firmware.

tonight my extender has been delivered (same day delivery) and all connected and working.

thanks to all of us helping each other!!

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

hi @Marhelorpe

I have SR203 and it runs on 7.03.0400.R. I hope that yours is not going to update at all.

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

So, the problem is NOT fixed then if we have to go back to a router with a non up to date firmware.

The solution is to release a newer version of the firmware than 7.03.0400.R that fixes this issue once and for all.

Re: Apple HomePod Won’t Connect to WiFi

Homepod works for me again, second day in a row.

I was trying randomly to set up Homepod every day and yesterday it connected and since then works.

Btw I changed 5G WiFi setting Desired Channel to 40 MHz ch.36. I am not sure if this is the reason why it works, but I am not brave enough to change it back again 🙂
Someone else could try the same and confirm.

Model SR203
Firmware Version 7.03.0400.R
