Activation day and wrong router
Hi all, today was my activation day but unfortunately I have no internet.
I had a text yesterday saying they sent me the wrong router, which is a SR203.
Product: Superfast broadband 65mb
I have tried to connect the wrong router in the hope it would still work but the internet is just showing an orange light.
Downstream says 67181kbps
But it's permanently trying to connect
Do I actually need a different router sr204 and how long do we think it will take to arrive?
I work from home so it's rather annoying at the moment

Re: Activation day and wrong router
I have a Master Socket 5c MK4.
Openreach replaced it about 6 months ago, it was working fine with my previous isp and a similar product yesterday.

Re: Activation day and wrong router
@Aspn Does look like you have a standard vdsl connection and the SR203 should be fine, RJ11 cable from the purple connection back off the router to the left hand side rj11 cable connector on the 5c socket.
Activation is up to midnight, and 192.168.0.1 will get you to look at the router web manager. Is the previous ISP router off line if you plug that in?

Re: Activation day and wrong router
Thanks @JimM1 , the router is connected correctly and the previous isp connection dropped off about 5pm.
I will see what the morning brings, thanks for your help

Re: Activation day and wrong router
@Aspn Just leave the SR203 connected, LAN light will go green when online, router will FW update to the latest and reboot itself, hopefully it all goes to plan, the SR204 is a G.Fast router, never used but think it should fall back to vdsl mode when required.
Summary Status 1st page when web manager connected shows you what you need, will say Broadband with Connected opposite when done.

Hi I had exactly same issues. Went from BT to Sky. Sky SR203 router shows permanent amber internet light. Left over night to try to connect but no change. However my old BT router works with Sky broadband. I have engineer booked for next Monday. Please keep us updated when you resolve your situation.

Re: Activation day and wrong router
@Dragons45 Are you still on the BT Router, which one do you have? The BT Smarthub2 has the G.Fast Modem inbuilt to it linked the BT modem pics if you are not sure.

Re: Activation day and wrong router
@Dragons45Yep same issue here, left the sr203 plugged in overnight but still no internet just a solid amber light.
Plugged the BT hub back in and it connected after a while, @JimM1 mine is the smart hub 2.
According to openreach gfast isn't available at my property
what would an engineer visit do?

@Aspn Are you saying now you have the BT Smarthub2 back connected and the Internet is up on it?

Re: Activation day and wrong router
@Aspn @Dragons45 Not odd, as far as i am concerend, you are both still connected to the BT/EE broadband system, and Sky have not setup the transfer correctly, with the router's on and working, would call sky, inform them that you have the BT router connected, working and can they please run a diagnostic to see what is going on.

Yes my BT smarthub is connecting with my Sky superfast broadband and providing the wifi to my home. This is confirmed by Ookla line speed test and the Sky operative who arranged my engineer appointment to enable me to use the Sky router SR203 as I will need to return the BT router.

Re: Activation day and wrong router
An SR204 is only particularly relevant where the address is served by G.fast rather than FTTC broadband, otherwise it's no different to the much more common SR203
BT Halo 3+ Ultrafast FTTP (500Mbs), BT Smart Hub 2
