@Ikenna

If it's in the UK, putting the address into the BT Wholesale Availability Checker should indicate which broadband provisioning type is applicable.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome

It's the table and the two text lines below it which are most useful.

Remove any personal information (such as the address itself) if you post an image.

That makes absolutely no difference: what matters is the physical handover between Virgin and Openreach, particularly if a new optical fibre installation is required.

Re: Activation date

@Ikenna as advised by @TimmyBGood your new date is the new, and the box plus delivery was probably all in the pipeline sitting ready to go went to you etc etc, and as hopefully you just contacted sky and are doing all via the OTS process, but it's not 100% so you do need to keep an eye on the VM, it should stay up fine and working, but if not VM will play real hardball with you and if you have contacted VM by yourself to kill and transfer the service, then you may just want to work out the best way to fill that time gap!

Re: Activation date

There is openreach FTTP in the house.VM have set 6th Sept as the last date for me,even though I told them 4th when I contacted them.Will this prevent my sky from working on the 4th of September?I thought open reach and Virgin use separate connections and that the new provider will handle everything?Can virgin stop my sky from working on the 4th?

Re: Activation date

@Ikenna That's the way the OTS works, BUT as soon as YOU step in and call/deal with VM that's it, they do what you tell them, So OTS is out the window, VM just do not play nice as soon as a customer calls them to say they are leaving there service! Vm and OR are competing companies, but a OR snag then you are going to be stuffed, looks like you where playing the let's not pay both but hope it all works out!

Re: Activation date

Sorry I am a bit confused.I just want to know if my OR can work even before VM disconnection?Can they function independently or should VM be disconnected before the other one can work?

Re: Activation date

@Ikenna They are BOTH independant broadband supplies, you can have them both working together for ever, so ONE does not have to be off before the other, your problem is if OR do not get it switched on for the 4th or later, VM are switching you off and you will have NO broadband from anyone!

OR could have switched it on well before, but i see YOU called sky and changed it! OR on and you just switch the VM off at the power socket to there BB Hub! VM TV is different and if also using a VM landline phone!
