Hi folks,
have broadband superfast package. Sync speed is 79900 kbps down and 20000kbps up. Connection itself is not a problem. WiFi is terrible, have tried changing channels but none seem to work. WiFi disappears from devices downstairs throughout the day and night including sky q box. Started happening a couple of months ago. New router from sky swapped over today, same issue.
im looking for recommendations for a 3rd party modem/router that can be placed in the middle floor of a 3 storey townhouse and cover all 3 floors. Also if we were to ever get Sky q multiroom in future will a 3rd party router be an issue? Eg do sky q multiroom boxes only work with the original sky router?

Only the Q Hub and Sky Broadband Hub models have the proprietary Q mesh technology. Other routers (and the new Sky Max Hub) can supply a main Q box with WiFi, but not Q Mini boxes, so those get their signal from the main Q box.
Note that the future of Q is now looking rather limited: it's nearly nine years old, and Sky Stream is effectively the successor product.

That's confused me lol. If I get a 3rd party route and connect the sky q box to it will then any sky q multiroom boxes connect to the sky q main box?
and any recommendations for a 3rd party router/modem?

Find out more@Rukhma the Sky Q boxes only act as wifi extenders with the black Sky hubs while the units will operate as TV boxes with any other router you end up with a closed 5GHz wifi network for the Q boxes using ch36 to 52* for the Q boxes which can interfere with your third party router's 5GHz signal. Asus routers are in general a safe choice as they connect to Sky UK's services.
*it is possible to switch the q boxesctomuse ch36 to 44 or ch44 to 52 using the engineers menu.

Looking at your signature is there anything else I can get besides a new router to boost the signal downstairs? There was no plug socket at the front door where fibre was gonna come in so the openreach guys put it in through the front of the house 1 floor up as there is a plug socket there. I'm currently on 3G on the phone while the sky q box in front of me it attempting to reconnect to the sky router. Meanwhile other half is upstairs connected no problem.
