using old sky box for freesat channels

hi folks,

i was given a sky HD box by a friend as he didn't need it anymore. I live on the first floor of a building and my neighbour who lives downstairs has access to sky and watches BBC and Asian channels (her satellite dish is accessible via her back garden). What do I have to do to get access to these channels as well? I am very confused as there's a lot of conflicting information online.

Many thanks

@Mark39 cheers for the quick reply! Would I have to get a new satellite dish installed or is there any way of using the current dish that my neighbor is using (i will ask her for permission)

Only if her dish is set up for communal use, and that's unlikely. It's potentially electrically dangerous for two households to connect to the same dish unless it's installed for use in that way.  You'll need to get a local firm to install a dish for you - Sky won't help unless you subscribe.

You'll just need a satellite dish

You need the box connected to your dish or a dish installed if you haven't got one, so you will need to call Sky about this,
