Re: itv hub on sky glass

I think we can all agree that sky glass is really hard to get used to after sky Q and that ITV really needs to get its fingers out and fix these issues that are putting us off sky glass and returning it and reverting back to sky Q, it has improved slightly since we first got it but not enough with all the adverts the  ff/rw problems etc...

but my biggest gripe is the 15/20 seconds delay on the football I get notifications telling of a goal before I see it another thing they didn't tell you about when you signed up for it, does anyone else have this problem?

Re: itv hub on sky glass

@Samantha.perkins1 re. football, this is probably caused by the fact that the broadcasts are streams.  Not sure there a lot that you can do about that as ther encoding will need to be done on the fly effectively, and this will take a little while to encode.    If this is the case, then there'll be no getting arond that for the foreseeable future.

@Samantha.perkins1

I'm afraid, as @Joe-Bow says, until everyone is streaming their TV from the same source, or the broadcast networks all agree on a unified time delay, this is not something that will change any time soon. Unless you shut yourself in a sound proof room, talk to no-one and turn off all social media, 'live' sport will always be affected by this.

Samsung are great. Now have sky q connected to Samsung without quick connect.

Re: itv hub on sky glass

TVs are very subjective.

Go for the best you can afford with the picture you prefer.

In many cases it's not possible for many people to sit at the right distance anyway, so as long as you're happy with your choice, crack on watching.

Re: itv hub on sky glass

Oh really that's rubbish so will anything that is live have the same problem because as far as sport is concerned it's really annoying even though it's only a matter of seconds but it can ruin your enjoyment of live sports like someone else said unless you shut yourself away and turn off all phones and iPads etc...

Re: itv hub on sky glass

@Samantha.perkins1 Yep, that's the way it is.  Everything on Glass is streamed so it all technically needs to be encoded, however with live events this needs to happen on the fly which causes this problem that there's currently no way around short of isolating in a room and leaving your phone elsewhere!!!

Satellite broadcast also has a slight delay, as do the Q minis as the transcoding is done in a similar way but from Q box to the minis instead.

Re: itv hub on sky glass

They are live they only go through the app if added to playlist and itv hub is the only one that is poor quality but that's itvs fault not sky it's needs upgrading from 720p to 1080p at least

Re: itv hub on sky glass

People are under the impression that everything is played through apps this is incorrect when you watch it live it's normal. It's just different when you add to playlist and itv need to pull their finger out

Re: itv hub on sky glass

My issue with itv is when I try to watch the masked singer on Saturday if it has started I can't watch from the start which is really annoying.  If I pause the tv that's fine but after a while the tv then unpauses itself and continues to play the program. From then on a pause last 5 seconds before it plays again automatically. If you try to rewind it simply sees the pause unpause point as the start of the recording

Can anyone help or advise past restart unplug replug usual ideas??

Re: itv hub on sky glass

Yes I think we can all agree that itv is still the worst of all the channels regarding ff/rw and being able to watch a program from the beginning once it's started hopefully someone from itv or sky are watching these messages and reports back about how unhappy customers are and then doing something about it 😤

Re: itv hub on sky glass

I spoke with sky on this and they are tackling itv about it. Also when a new episode gets added you have to scroll to the right to the very end to get to the episode it should be first

Re: itv hub on sky glass

ITV hub is constantly not working on our glass tv! For the past week, we have gone onto watch a programme which has loaded but when we come to fast forward the adverts, the screen simply goes black and freezes causing us to reboot. We are not having the same issue using our multi room puk on a standard TV. So it it the glass TV or the ITV hub? Very frustrating, not happy with the sky glass at all. Please can someone suggest something before I take a hammer to it?

@LKJ - one of the best things I did was upgrade to ITV hub plus. Yes it's another £40 a year on top of the sub, but no adverts reduces many of the problems with the app loading ads and then content!
