Will a booster improve my WiFi on non fibre as it drops to 3/4 G in certain rooms?

My wi fi drops in certain rooms! I don't or want to pay for  fibre but will a booster help ?

@Rhp86w  A booster won't increase your line speed if your on ADSL, a booster simply improves the area of wifi coverage.  Your speed on ADSL is limited to the length of your line to the exchange.  The only way to increase your speed is to upgrade if possible.

Could you also tell us what speed you are supposed to be between.

If you are on sky essentials at a fair distance from the exchange the use of boosters will only slow it down even more. The advice if your house is on the same mains circuit would be to use powerline adapters

@Rhp86w Have you looked at the cost of most fibre packages, especially those based on FTTC which is the most common?

The vast majority of ISP's now are offering this type of connection which can be an order of magnitude faster than yours, for exactly the same cost, some are even cheaper believe it or not.

23Mbs is a really good inbound speed for ADSL (maximum 24Mbs), but even with that you'll only be getting around 1.3Mbs of outbound, and that's likely to be the most limiting factor: this extreme asymmetry is inherent to that particular broadband technology.

Good spot! It's a new build so Open Reach finally came to connect but the sky guy did it as a fault ! When open Reach guy came he said it's an installation not a fault but he agreed to sort it out! Takes 2 weeks to check the line they say! Spent 2 hours already talking  to sky about a booster! Say it won't help but be nice to try as a sky VIP of 21 years

In answer to your original question yes a booster will help if your devices are dropping off the network in some rooms as this is an indicator of poor WiFi reception and nothing to do with the speed you have coming into your property.

Brilliant information as I need some munition to ask politely of course for a free booster!! Ha!! 21 years with sky !! Something for free 

also I asked about fibre but seems it will definitely cost me more
