My original sky was much better on every level than sky Q. Have you never heard the expression " if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Clearly Sky has not. On sky Q, You cannot record things easily. If you try and record a series, it stops recording arbitrarily. So you end up missing episodes.
It would be much shorter to say what is right about sky Q. Nothing is better about it. Everything about it is needlessly complicated and definitely NOT USER FRIENDLY. You can't find thing's easily, like you could on the old sky box.and the hand set is also not good. I have seen a lot of complaints about sky Q but sky does not seem interested in what their customers want.
the TV guide seems to be built on an excell platform by people who don't know how to use Excell. When the original Sky box was simple and easy to use and worked very well. My advice to sky is, to go forward... go back.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreQ is marmite to some.
Personally, I wouldn't want to revert back. It takes a little time to get used to. Agreed it's not perfect but they ain't turning back.

@TechmanagerMal if they like sky+ I would doubt they would like sky glass due to the lack of sky Q functions and no hard drive and the lack of channels just to name a few things

Several possible reasons including that they don't have boxes any more as they stopped making them 6+ years ago or it's a platform not being developed any further (will just receive critical bug fixes).

You wanted Sky Q, so they listened and gave you Sky Q. They're phasing out Sky+HD over time, so there's no going back.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreBut do they know how to spell Excel? That's the big question.
The idea that Q is objectively worse than HD is nonsensical. The menu navigation is a mess. The 4k picture quality is vastly superior. The voice control is great. The networked minis (once you get a stable connection) are great.

@rscott its interesting you say about not having the boxes because they have even stopped supplying sky essentials with a sky+HD box and only supply it with a sky Q box

They're keeping what few boxes they have to look after customers who cannot get Q or Glass for technical reasons
22 Oct 2021 03:48 PM
@rscott not that I am encouraging people to do it but I have read in the forum when people have just got a sky+HD box put there Q viewing card in it paired it up does that get flagged up on your account then if you do that?
22 Oct 2021 03:51 PM
@rscott or for people already on sky+HD who get a box fault and get an engineer out to replace the box
