@rscott not that I am encouraging people to do it but I have read in the forum when people have just got a sky+HD box put there Q viewing card in it paired it up does that get flagged up on your account then if you do that?
Hi @HeathHayle The SKYQ card will not work in a SKY+ box, also the dish will have a incompatable LNB than the one that was installed for a SKY+ box.
A replacement SKY+ box for existing customers would be a reconditioned box not a new one.

@Quoman7 I have read in the forums where re-pairing works

So what you were suggesting with the viewing card would not work!

@Quoman7 I am only saying what I have read

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreUsing a Q account with an HD (or even not HD Sky+ ) box may work at the moment, but no guarantee how long for and no grounds for complaint to Sky if it suddenly stops.
It wouldn't take much at all for Sky to update the Q firmware to require a different entitlement on the card and break legacy box support.

@HeathHayle We got sky q about 5 months ago, and immediately realised that it was not for us. They told us that we could not go back and they would not reinstate our old sky box. I thought this was particularly ignorant of them as they were very pushy in the selling of this product, and we had been with them for 20 years or so. Our old sky was perfectly good, and whatever anyone says, sky Q is much less user friendly. Unless you like battling with computers. I don't.

@rscott true yes I thought it did work there is a get out clause though if its sky+ or nothing you use it until sky stop it then upgrade to sky glass then cancel everything and go somewhere else 😂

@Go+flying ouch! I never touched Q when I heard you dont own the equipment it was a complete no from me and I like using old equipment so I have even gone back to using non-HD boxes

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreNo one said it isn't less user friendly. It absolutely is. The navigation is a completely confusing mess.
but the voice control solves a lot of that.
And TV services are about more than that anyway. How did you navigate multiple series of on-demand 4k HDR TV shows on SkyHD?
You didn't.

I have had Sky Q for over 3 years. I don't really get 'the navigation is a mess' point. Yes it's different to Sky +HD but with all new products you learn the ropes. My only gripe is when recording and watching live you cannot rewind beyond the point you began to watch live and you have to go into recording itself to rewind.
But this is a small drawback in what for me is otherwise a top class product.
If you think Sky Q navigation is a mess you should see the complaints on this community forum re Sky Glass playlist. I will definitely not be upgrading from Sky Q.
