It was gone from the Irish epg as part of the great dissapearing act of channels in December 2020 because of Brexit license issues

RT Channel 511 on SKY
RT UK, the Russian television news channel based in the United Kingdom. It is part of the RT network, a Russian Kremlin state controlled international televion and media broadcaster funded by the federal tax budget of the Russian government. Why with the current unethical and immoral invasion of Ukraine by Russia is this channel, 511 still on SKY and other British television and media broadcasters. Surely the Kremlin talk shop should be suspended from the air?

Re: Why are you still broadcasting Russian RT
It was not on the Irish EPG. Somebody else also reported it was removed from VirginMedia where it also was not active.

Re: Why are you still broadcasting Russian RT
1: The EU has not banned it yet they are moving to ban it.
2: If you are in the UK then we are not in the EU anyway.
It can only be banned in the UK if OFCOM can prove it has broken their rules, although if a EU ban does happen then it is unlikely to be able to get it channel into the UK.

Re: Why are you still broadcasting Russian RT
As it is a bespoke UK version, it is undoubtedly fed to London via fibre for uplink from the UK, so the EU ban wouldn't affect transmission.

Hi all,
As outlined by others.
Sky is required by Ofcom rules to list channels with a valid broadcast licence in our TV guide. All enquiries or complaints should be raised with Ofcom.
Update: Following the removal of the RT satellite feeds across Europe, the channel will no longer be displayed on the Sky platform.
Thread Locked.
EDIT: If some posts appear to be disjointed, we may have merged conversations on the same topic.

Why can't Sky remove RT?
"Unless regulatory action stops RT UK, Sky and Freesat are not in a position to automatically remove the channel. This is because both operators are required to be fair, reasonable ans non-discriminatory when it comes to listing a channel. For example, as long as RT continues to make payments and meets the minimum requirements for a slot on Sky, it can't be removed without regulatory intervention."

Just do like I and probably most others do.... Simply don't turn to that channel
You would rather 'leave Sky' than do that 🤔

Far too easy, much easier to complain to Sky who have no control over the channel and threaten to boycott all Sky products 🙂

Why is RT still on Sky
I caught the Rt channel while looking for news on the European WAR and was shocked that SKY was broadcasting a channel that even Utube has stopped. As a long term customer I contacted SKY and after 2 hours the respose was we will get someone to call you next Sunday!!!!! I pushed and hopefully someone will call me tomorrow. PLEASE call SKY and complain and when they say there is nothing I can do 9or offer to give you money off( Oh yes they did) then ask for a manager. Keep doing that it will take time but it will help overall I hope.

Re: Why is RT still on Sky
@Stu+Rip Under ofcom rules Sky must broadcast a channel if that channel has a license to broadcast in uk which it currently does
any complaints should be raised with ofcom has it's there responsibility not sky's
