Hi all,
As outlined by others.
Sky is required by Ofcom rules to list channels with a valid broadcast licence in our TV guide. All enquiries or complaints should be raised with Ofcom.
Update: Following the removal of the RT satellite feeds across Europe, the channel will no longer be displayed on the Sky platform.

Re: Why are you still broadcasting Russian RT
You're asking other customers. It's Sky's Viewer Relations you should ask about programming: viwerr@sky.uk

Re: Why are you still broadcasting Russian RT
That is a question to direct towards the Viewer Relations people at Sky because on here you are just talking to other customers - viewerR@sky.uk
My guess would be that Sky like other companies are awaiting a decision from the media regulator.

@Syenya I don't think Ofcom have banned it as yet. Just be aware you aren’t talking to Sky Customer Services here. This is primarily a forum for customers to help other customers and Sky won’t reply to you as the result of your post on here.

Ofcom have said they are expediting all complaints received about it "
We are expediting complaints in this area as a matter of urgency and we will not hesitate to take swift action where necessary."

Yes, RT DE has been banned on German TV as it failed to get a licence. This was before the invasion of Ukraine.
Please also be aware RT does not broadcast in the UK (& Ireland on eir TV), but RT UK does.
RT has the following variants:
- RT International
- RT Arabic
- RT en Español
- RT en français
- RT America
- RT UK
- RTД (RT Documentary)
- RT DE (banned in Germany)
My own opinion is, as long as RT UK remains fair and provides equal views on both sodes, Ofcom can't really do anything.
Ofcom chief executive Dame Melanie Dawes replied: "Recognising the serious nature of the crisis in Ukraine, we have been keeping the situation under close review and have already stepped up our oversight of coverage of these events by broadcasters in the UK.
"We are expediting complaints in this area as a matter of urgency and we will not hesitate to take swift action where necessary. I am confident that we have the full range of enforcement tools at our disposal and our track record shows that when we find a breach of our rules, we can and do take action."

Re: Why are you still broadcasting Russian RT
RT UK (same as the International version most of the time) certainly isn't providing fair coverage or equal views from both sides. I expect it will be off air in the coming days.

@Moemoff It is not up to Sky, Sky don't control broadcasts on Satellite despite popular incorrect myth.
It has already been posted who you need to contact if you have issues with this particular channel.

So they provide a platform. So good that they do it for nothing. Maybe they will have a change of heart.

Re: Why are you still broadcasting Russian RT
Sky provide access to their TV Guide to broadcasters. OFCOM are the ones who police things
Sky don't even own the satellites, a lot of poeple don't understand how sky works and what they can or can't do

Re: Why are you still broadcasting Russian RT
I understand from others that RT has been removed from the Irish EPG... but I can't confirm that.
If RT pay Sky for carriage and hold a licence to broadcast in the UK, then Sky must carry the channel. It is down to OFCOM to revoke the licence.
What must be considered is that the BBC currently broadcast a lot of western news and views into Russia - and for RT to be banned here would mean the BBC would also be banned by Russia in the area and would deny Russians a source of democratic news free of Kremlin influence. This will be considered by OFCOM before any decision is made..... and let's face it, everyone in the UK knows RT is Putin's mouthpiece so will treat it with the contempt it deserves in relation to the current events. I say leave it be. Its viewership is low in the UK and allowing the BBC to continue broadcasting in Russia is far more beneficial. If it offends, don't watch it.
