The menu system is poor - having to scroll right to the bottom every time to get to settings - is there a shortcut?
Voice control: "Settings"

Well ! Results ! lol
the great accessibility team rang me back and checked with me if I could receive their call then transferred me to the soft launch team for sky stream. Brilliant customer service from Kerry and David.
Fingers crossed that I get on with it and don't need to revert back to Sky q as I'll be saving £30 a month which in these trying times will help greatly.

Very first impression was one of sluggishness. Compared to both an Apple TV 4K box and a Firestick 4K Max, navigation is just sluggish. Feels like everything is just happening a nano second after it should. Scrolling up and down the home page too, already feels like the box is struggling.
Presumably it's exactly the same chipset as Glass pucks, which is not exactly cutting-edge silicon.
Apple in particular can be reasonably expected to specify something much better.

For £20 I shouldn't really grumble, but that's definitely all the box is worth.
Sky Go on the Apple TV box feels faster and slicker.

I can't believe it either, but I'll report back

I'd hope so: by my calculation you'd get slightly under 12% of an Apple TV 4K for £20...

But a £40 Firestick 4K Max feels infinitely quicker too.... just in basic terms of menu navigation. Smoother, more responsive.
Ah well. It's been an interesting couple of hours, and it's killed off my Q contract which was the main aim of this. I'll do my first month of service and see how things progress but right now it's certainly not going to get much more use than the Q box did.

Ethernet. WiFi turned off in the settings.

Your Q contract will return if you revert back. Your end date will also be restored so I am told.

I ain't going back. The purpose of switching was to get rid of Sky completely, sooner than if we'd let the Q contract run its course, as we just don't use it.
I'll do a month and ditch it. May come back every now and again if there's something specific we want to see but it's no longer a useful service in our house.

You can easily exit a q contact if you tell them you've got divorced and moved to a place where you can't have a dish...

Useful info for those that want it!
I wanted to give Stream a go, purely for my own morbid curiosity. I'm a nerd and like faffing around with such devices.

Another new irritation...
The Stream box appears to have killed the CEC link between my TV and amp. Even when it's in standby.
What a crock.

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreThere's a few threads kicking around about the separate sound systems
if memory serves I think you have to turn them on in a specific order
ie puck first then the sound system
I could be wrong though .....
