That's called NOW.

I've said it many times before. If Sky would only offer the UHD HDR streams available via the NOW app I'd use that over any of their own hardware any day.

For me, the ability to time shift sport events is critical, as I like to skip all the half time chit chat...

All evidence would suggest that Glass/Stream is not the optimal product for that in its current state.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

Sky Stream gives me everything I was wanting. I find it easy to use and perfect for my needs. One thing that makes me different from a lot of people on this thread is that I believe in Sky's "It's Only Live Once" motto. Apart from the occasional MOTD I would never dream of recording live sport to watch later. It's live or nothing for me!

Indeed. But instead of doing so they've tried to replicate Q in streaming form with a similar interface. By doing so they've shown how many people want to be able to 'record' to properly timeshift their viewing of live events.

Indeed. The 'it's only live once' tag line was somewhat conveniently timed...

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

Watching live PGA tour golf is a horrible experience. At least twenty minutes of every hour is adverts or other guff.

Being able to record it and watch the last three hours in about 90 minutes by recording and zipping through the ads is why I happily paid for Q

Somewhat ironic for the company which brought the PVR into common use over two decades ago, perhaps?

I imagine those companies that pay a small fortune to advertise in the midst of a live sporting event have more influence over sky than those consumers who want to record and watch later

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

Just got my three pucks and am setting up the first one in the living room.

first hiccup was the remote as it was unresponsive so although I pulled that white strip I wasn't sure if the batteries did make contact. So I slid the back of it and straight away saw the problem: flipping Duracell ! I remember a friend of mine who used to mend battery clocks for the side table used to tell me that Duracell packs too much of a punch for small devices so I put in some cheapo Panasonic batteries and it worked like a charm.

My internet connection is fibre optic 900Mbps so the puck seems to like it. Everything refreshes quickly and actually in my case quicker than my sky q box oddly enough.

oddly enough there's an aerial socket at the back so I plugged my aerial cable and unplugged the Ethernet cable to see if it would revert to a Freeview sort of connection but it didn't ask me to tune in anything just told me that the connection is off.

You change channels with the up and down circle just above the home button. It takes a second or two for the live channel stream to come through so no more flicking through quickly.

Setting up each app is a palaver although Netflix was good to go.

I also have a hardware firewall ( bitdefender box 2 ) and it found 236 ' vulnerabilities ' on the box I think it's because of the UDP port needed being open I guess. Not worried as the firewall will protect me from Denial of service attacks.

That socket is a requirement in some European regulatory regimes (Italy, for example).  It's active on a Glass television when there's no internet connection (but not Glass pucks), and it's unclear if Sky ever intend it to have a function in Stream.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

I've had Stream + 3 Pucks for a week now. All 3 pucks are connected using WiFi. All 3 pucks are used a lot and not one has let us down, all are working flawlessly. I have BT Fibre 900 which helps and use my own WiFi 6 router, the pucks are also WiFi 6 and it makes for a very stable connection.

The PQ on linear channels is excellent, imo better than Q. My router stats indicate very good bit rates of any streams.

My only gripe is when watching UHD/HDR football the screen is a mess when on screen graphics are displayed. All in all I'm very happy with Stream, we never recorded much so it isn't an issue, our old Q hard drive was never fuller than 20%.

Re: Who's switching from Q to Stream?

Hi all,

First time I've posted here but just wanted to say I've switched from Q to Stream as of yesterday. All very smooth and working fine and my Q account has already been ceased and I see the credit balance For the unused days. Very quick in my opinion.

Only downside I've found so far is being unable to add Netflix shows to my Playlist (which is what brought me to the forum in the first place) unless they are advertised as a "top pick for you". Bit of a shame but it sounds like it has been working before so fingers crossed Netflix/Sky can figure that out between them.

@Spimunk101 you can normally add Netflix series to the Playlist by using the search and pressing the Add button on the tile. If you press select first it will launch the app.
