Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

Forget subtitles on 90 percent of progs especially in your playlist !!

Also BBC iPlayer, channel 5, itv hub, on demand, catch up f......ing rubbish.

I've only had sky glass for a few weeks already regretting  it. Stay with skyq

Been in contact  with sky and "they are looking into it" yeh right won't hold my breath !!

Not allowed by sky to give out number  of sky assistant I've been in contact with.

@joshuaevans10 you are aware that when watching programming in the apps like BBC iPlayer there are separate controls for subtitles?  For example iPlayer press select which brings up,the on screen icones the subtitle control is at the top of the screen second on the left. ITV Hub its the S icon on the bottom right. Once set they should stick.

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

@joshuaevans10 Are you sure? Most things I want to watch do have subtitles. Be aware that if Glass can show something in UHD it will gravitate towards that and there are no subtitles on any UHD content. You need to change the format to HD where most things are subtitled.

It's annoying and discriminatory but they're supposedly "working on it".

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

Chrisee is correct about accessing subtitles on iPlayer, ITVHub etc. I went into a Sky shop and an assistant showed me how to do this. I still have problems with inconsistency of subtitles and I'm now in touch with Sky accessibility by email. I changed my setting to HD and that hasn't helped the problems.

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

Any sky channels with subtitles added to your playlist will show with the subtitle but not all other channels added to your playlist will even though the S sign is visible. I have spoken to sky and they are "looking into it"

Also there  are a number of channels missing including the +1 channels and a few news channels.

+1 channels aren't going to be on Glass.

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

Hi I can confirm that I'm currently watching a 'recording' on the Sky Glass  from C5 and there are NO subtitles. I am struggling with my hearing too so I hope Sky take note.

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

Go to settings then accessibility than highlighted programmes then select subtitles  worked for me on sky glass.

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

As mentioned below when on iplayer for example you have to use the iplayer subtitles and not the TV ones. Once the program you want to watch is palying press the select button (the one in the middle of the remote). Three boxes appear at top of screen. Using the remote up /down/left/right buttons move to the subtitle box and select. It then works fine. I find you have to do it each time for programs.

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

Hi Dave

Thank you for your message. I did as you have suggested after an assistant in a Sky shop told me how to do that to access the subtitles in iPlayer and ITVHub etc. I never have problems with subtitles on iPlayer, Discovery Plus, Netflix. The subtitles on other channels when not watching live are the problem. They are inconsistent. My TV also now cuts out completely.  Rebooting by switching off at the wall doesn't always help. I'm learning to live with the TVs quirks, but it's far from an easy experience.

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

Thats good.

Have you been given anyway of still seeing subtitles when you use the restart function.??

On any show where I miss the start and use this restart function you lose subtitles.

Very annoying.

Cheers

Re: Subtitles on Sky Glass

Anyone else having issues with the Sync on subtitles? Quite often the sync is out with the speaking, normally text comes up in advance. If watching live , changing channels and then back again sometimes cures it, but not always. If you restart a show as you missed the first bit, subtitles sometimes don't work at all but when they do are almost always out of sync. It's a really annoying issue. Any advice out there?

Thanks
