But, of course, I'm guessing somewhat!
It maybe a firmware issue, it may not be. I don't want to sit here for weeks unable to use a service that I'm paying for. At what point would you suggest Sky replace a non functional remote? A day, a week, a month? I will update if the remote starts to work again or a replacement arrives. If neither happens I will simply cancel under the cooling off period.

I completely understand your position a few hours maybe is one thing but when it's next morning and still not working that's another.

I am so glad mine started working after a day and a half as I have had word from DPD that my "next day delivery" will be on 2nd November!

Just to update everyone on the thrilling rollercoaster ride that my Stream remote is taking me on...
After yesterday's low battery warning and non-functioning volume controls (on new batteries), this morning it decided to work perfectly again. No on-screen battery warning, volume control working fine. This was after the puck took a good 30+ seconds to wake up.
Perhaps Sky have infused some kind of human-like AI into these devices. A little too human maybe? Some days they just can't be bothered to wake up easily or do what they're supposed to. We've all done it right?

Amazon sells Sky Glass replacement remotes (in different colours). It's unclear if they will work with Sky Stream though. Some commenters say yes others no. They look exactly like the Stream remotes. If you're going into Argos may be worth looking at them, or Amazon send them next day if you're a Prime member.
May be worth a try and if you keep the packaging you can always return if they don't work.

I was told that DPD would request the old remote when they delivered the new one. I am hoping, as it will be a local delivery company, that they forget this and I can have a spare!

According to the tracking, my new remote is now on the vehicle for delivery today!

@Carnoch04 I was never asked to return mine, so currently have a spare and by look of the remote problems on here it's only a matter of time before I'll need it.

Same here. No mention of having to return the old one, though at present I've not used the new replacement because I'm enjoying the daily temperamental attitude of the old one. Some days it works, other days it thinks it's low on juice... every day is a surprise!

@fizzdisco Quality control looks to be up there with that of the old British Leyland. I once had one of their Austin Metro's and I used to be able to stand and watch it fall to bits.

OMG British Leyland now you are going back when cars were built by the british not to a budget but to the amount of effort a bloke wanted to make before he went down the pub. I will never forget the top gear episode where the door fell off i do wonder if that was real or for comedic effect.

My new remote has just popped through the letterbox so no question of taking the old one away. It is now ready to go as a spare (which will undoubtedly be needed)
