I've not received my replacement yet, but after realising it wasn't coming today, I decided to try the "twist" method advised earlier in this post, and it appears to have fixed things for now. 

  I then noticed my box has updated to QS012.  This annoys me a little as I can't be  sure whether it's the twist that has fixed things or the software update 😂 

 

Either way, at least I can use it! Thanks for the tip!

One of my puck remotes only lit up when pressing buttons but didn't do anything on screen, but this trick fixed it, thanks

My replacement turned up this morning, he didn't ask, or even want the old one as the Rep suggested he would! 

It works fine, and far quicker than the first one, paired first attempt too, whereas the old one always needed at least two attempts,  that said, the old one was working fine after I twisted it. 

Maybe it was a batch thing as some have suggested?

I thought exactly the same when it was suggested earlier in this thread, or at the very least it that it was one those things that made you feel better, and that it probably would have started working on its own anyway, but it really did make a difference for me, mine has been fine since! 😂

I've been with Virgin for 13 years and due to its prices getting out of control decided to get the sky puck. But the remote not working isn't a great first impression, nothing seems to be working and I can't get through to sky. Even more disappointing is to come online and see that it's a common fault. Why wouldn't sky test the equipment before sending it out...

If it's any help, I went through the diagnostic in the my Sky app, and it revealed a phone number that didn't appear to be the regular one.  This number was literally answered on the first ring. Not sure if I got lucky or this is a hotline to the right guy, but he was very helpful and quick.

 

i apologise I didn't keep the number, but if you go through the "get help" diagnostic on the App it should give you the number.

Sky Puck remote not working

Had the Sky Puck since Monday, worked fine for 3 days, but tonight the remote has just stopped working, changed batteries, tried all the help section and no response at all......not a great start 😢

Hold the remote in both hands and give it a twist, it has brought many remotes back to life.

We have had Sky Stream for three weeks and just today experienced all these issues

 

Have ordered a SkyQ remote and flipped back to Apple TV.

 

Any official word from someone from Sky as to what to do next?

Got mine today. Took 15 minutes of button pressing, cycling batteries, hitting it, sitting in it, and yelling at it to get the remote working. Not impressed. It appears to be bad battery contacts. Rather than being soldered to the circuit board they are just making contact with it. The same design fault plagued Windows Mixed Reality controllers. All to save a penny's worth of solder. 

 

Now it's updating software "it will only take a moment". It's been going for 15 minutes and is only 54% complete. By my rough calculations the software update is 1.8 GB? Why is the software so bloated?
