Amazon sells Sky Glass replacement remotes (in different colours). It's unclear if they will work with Sky Stream though. Some commenters say yes others no. They look exactly like the Stream remotes. If you're going into Argos may be worth looking at them, or Amazon send them next day if you're a Prime member.
May be worth a try and if you keep the packaging you can always return if they don't work.
@tb22 ahh I didn't think about looking on Amazon... Just ordered one!
Well, just got back from Argos and the Sky Q Voice Remote does indeed work with the Sky Stream Puck. I can turn on/off the puck, navigate the menu, select, pause, rewind, fast forward and control the volume on my TV. Even voice works!
So, we have TV for today. Will try the Amazon remote tomorrow but I'm worried it may have reliability issues like the original and so I may be better off keeping the Sky Q as our spare once we receive the replacement from Sky which will probably be sometime next week?

@WelshPaul Glad it works and I didn't lead you to wasting money! After you've used it for a while it would be good to hear what the Q remote doesn't do and whether it proves to be reliable.

@Pistonhead the only thing the Sky Q remote doesn't do is the ability to add things to the playlist (playlist is broken for me anyway) bring up the option of enabling subtitles. You can add and remove programmes to the playlist using the record button 😂. All other functions appear to work including voice search. As far as I can tell so far it does everything else! 🤞
Sky Q Remote Model Number: SKY135
I have requested cancellation of the Sky Glass remote I ordered from Amazon as the Sky Q does everything I need and will be ideal as a spare. Neven know if other Sky Stream remotes will suffer from these issues so it makes sense to keep the Sky Q remote.

@WelshPaul That's good to know, thanks. Even without the plus button you can add to the Playlist by selecting a programme and choosing the 'Add Series' option.

@Pistonhead I just edited my post...
You can add to the playlist by pressing the record button. Only thing I can't seem to do is bring up the option to enable subtitles while watching a programme (I don't need subtitles thankfully). You can however enable them via the accessibility option located within the settings menu.

@Carnoch04 wrote:I was told that DPD would request the old remote when they delivered the new one. I am hoping, as it will be a local delivery company, that they forget this and I can have a spare!
The scotish lady I spoke to didn't mention anything to me about returning the old remote. I did ask her if they wanted the old remote back and if so how do I return it. I might get asked for the old one back when they deliver the replacement she said, but she wasn't sure. No idea how Sky are going to diagnose the cause if they are not requesting the return of the faulty units? 🤔

Probably testing various remotes they have on hand with boxes to find faulty ones to use for diagnosing issues would be my guess.

@WelshPaul can you enable subtitles using voice control 'turn on subtitles'?

@Pistonhead yes (didn't know I could do that!).

@WelshPaul Great - looks like a good alternative remote, so long as it stays working! Perhaps Sky Advisors should be told that Q remotes will work, rather than the opposite, so they can more effectively help disgruntled customers.

On the original Sky Stream remote there is a button containing colour dots (top right)... What does that do?
27 Oct 2022 11:23 AM
It takes you to red button stuff or catch-up stuff.

The guy I spoke to asked if I had a Sky Q remote as it should work. I have never had Sky Q so that conversation didn't go any further.

Ah, I will have to try that feature as I don't know if that will work with the Sky Q remote.
When I press the SKY button the TV guide doesn't load, I get the following screen everytime:
Home button works, and the TV guide loads when you navigate to the option located in the home screen (and via voice search).
