I'm wondering if the low battery notification is because the batteries are running low on juice? People have been complaining about their Sky Glass remote batteries needing replacing way to frequently for some time now. Do you have a multimeter you can test them with?
They were box fresh batteries 2 weeks ago when I put them in. I'm afraid I don't have a multimeter but I'll try putting them in some other device later and see if they show as running low.
If these things are sucking juice then I suspect it might be something to do with the motion/backlight sensor. It's perhaps too sensitive?

Latest update, I cna't have a remote replacement until my order closes today and the current remote hasn't been miraculously revived overnight. Also noticed this morning that the box is having some serious issues, it boots with a flashing light, then the light goes out and there's zero output to the TV. Ethernet port is flashing, so I can see there's power still there.
Is there a way to manually factory reset the box? or is it all within the UI on the box that I can't see, nor access given I have no way of controlling the box.
Not going to lie, this is not the best start to life as a new Sky customer.

@Megamarvatron press and hold the power button located on the underside of the puck for 10 seconds forces a factory reset (I think).

I have read people complaining about having to replace the batteries three or four times a month. If that's true then the remote is useless given the price of decent batteries these days! If I experience any further issues I will just stick with the Sky Q remote.

Yeah, the ridiculous thing is that it's barely been used since I got it as the whole Stream experience is just poor, so it's draining batteries by just being sat motionless on a side table! The rest of the family are very much not impressed either so I suspect we'll just kill the contract completely after Christmas, if not before. Not being sports fans, we can very happily live without Sky in this household.

I will say that my overall experience using Sky Stream has been great so far (for me). OK, the remote issues I experienced sucked and although I didn't receive a replacement remote next day, Sky did send me one in a reasonable amount of time.
I will post back if my replacement remote dies, experiences any erratic behaviour or the batteries die prematurely. If it does, I will just stick with the Sky Q remote I purchased as that was spot on. 👍

Update
Called sky to check on remote, they had only sent an email for replacement, lady said i need your puck
S/N, once done i get a text saying new remote will be delivered by DHL, won't hold mt breath it will work.
They also set me up as a new customer due to moving, now i have lost my 14 years VIP and account says 5 days with sky, its a frigging joke..

Is that just the standard Sky Q remote I could pick up from a well known online retailer? Feels like the best option right now until they sort out the ongoing issues with the remote.

@Megamarvatron the Sky Stream remote is different from the Sky Q remote.

@Megamarvatron The Q remote that can be paired to control most of the functions on Stream is the Q Bluetooth remote with the blue voice button on the front.

Update 2
Just had the backup SKY Q remote delivered by Royal Mail and hey presto Stream works, voice working too, so we are good to go, scrap the Stream Remote and use SKY Q one until they fix the issue 🙂

Same here @robmct, just picked up a Sky Q remote and it's working a treat, box is running smoothly and I can finally watch content.

Considering Sky already charge a "Set up" fee of £39.95 for simply sending you the puk and remote youreally shouldn't have to shell out another £25 to get a remote that works.
Im pretty gobsmacked that this hasnt been sorted out yet
